life vs blog

i have posted very little here recently, even though i desired to reengage with blogging and my mind is full of blog posts and ideas. but life is great and full that one unconsciously delays.

in addition, the fact that sri lanka is at peace and prospering, while terrorists, racists, and western paid ngo slave scum, are either dead or failing, reduce the need for political posts in both reader and writer.

but i will try.

what to blog about in a peaceful prospering sri lanka? 

country is getting positively boring.

that is a good thing.

if you are not a political blogger. 

living in such a country is great if you are a family man or an unmarried one; if you are trying to make money or just want to be lazy. it is definitely the place to be if you want to enjoy life, or be miserable by choice.

i am thankful it is like that, now. 

and we, sri lankans, will keep it that way.

but what to write?

be more personal and less political? but i cringe when people indecently expose their own diaries to public as blogs.

write about foreign stuff and my reactions to art and techs? and my thoughts on philosophy and religion? maybe. iow, be boring? maybe.

while i have no sympathy for gaddafi, only looters and their paid slaves can think all this a success and welcome it.

same ppl welcomed the end of egypt's dictator mubarak. not surprising how they are silent on the fact that democracy is nowhere in sight in egypt, now ruled by a shacky and intolerant military junta subservient to west just like mubarak. (since this is a sri lankan blog i refer esp to born/paid slaveboy sri lankan blogs like indi.ca, groundviews, etc. always ready to parrot western narrative/pov without a shred of independent thought). i have already written about the possible outcomes in egypt. i am still of same opinions. 

slaveboys are also silent on west's hypocritical silence and non action in bahrain where the tyrant massacred and imprisoned peaceful (in contrast to libya's armed and violent) protesters. i suspect the fact that tyrant in bahrain allows free oil looting to west, and permanently hosts american fifth fleet has lot to do with it.

but to return to libya.

west (and others, even sri lanka) courted bloody dictator gaddafi up to last year. but it is mainly west (esp. uk and france) that succeeded in getting deals from him. remember all those western engineers etc., peacefully allowed to evacuate when fighting started. in 2009, britain went so far as to release the libyan terrorist who bombed an airliner over lockerbie killing hundreds in a 'blood for oil' deal. (btw i and many others opposed it at the time. slaveboys were silent.) several wikileaks documents have confirmed what we said. wikileaks and normal news confirmed that british ministers, (including prime ministers and royals), american senators, etc, were regular visitors of crazy dictator gaddafi, gaddafi was invited to g8 summit as an observer and praised, english education institutions gave degrees to gaddafi's son, et., etc. 

i said what i think of west's possible intervention in libya even before they started. as always i have no reason to change my mind. 

west's intervention in libya is a classic case of west exploiting quarrels among natives to make looting of assets easier. ruling scum of genocidal british empire would be proud that their modes of operations are still followed by their progeny. only i doubt whether they will succeed. look what happened after the "successful" invasion and installation of puppets in afghanistan. i think employees of western companies in libya will find looting hard if they are also targets. rightly so!

in any case, all of us would be right in not being overjoyed and not welcoming this news.

i am loling @ the self righteous pontifications of a certain blogger about duminda silva, gun fights, and criminal politicians, etc..

i mean how did this person, his suckerboys, and family members, forget that they worked, works, and will work for, same sort of criminal pols. just two weeks ago same blogger ran an extremely dirty politician's facebook page.

did you guess who i am referring to? good! lol.

(btw support of this blogger is a sure sign of defeat for pols he supports. check history).

where i stand

as i have said before here, only way to cure the political system of corruption (and attendant criminality) here or anywhere in the world (most of world is no better than here, west just conceal it it better), is to reduce the power of politicians/state over other ppls' assets/freedoms; be it by cutting government spending/welfare, removing regulations and pols' control over regulations, etc., etc., 

i will support such a libertarian program. in the absence of one from any electable politician, my support or opposition, for pols or parties, will depend on other considerations; ref my voting guide for last presidential election.

i will continue to laugh at ppl who pontificate on criminality and corruption of some criminal politicians while working for others. lol.

a side effect of the ability maintain a huge portable selection of music is that if we forget to include an old fav, we may not realize the fact for some time. bc, while we try to listen to new music outside the selection, reasonably enough, we do not feel the need to listen to old ones outside.

american 'heroism'!

note - as i have said before, i fully approve killing of mass murderer osama bin laden. but this is not about that.

we were told, that after an elaborate decision making process; under the supervision of barack obama; excellent specimens of america's professional military and intelligence, secretly entered pakistan armed with latest military hardware and best intelligence; attacked a security compound/luxury mansion of osama bin laden; heroically fought and killed 2 of his guards; killed ak-47 wielding osama, who used his wife as a human shield; avoided another 'black hawks down' by destroying their own shot at helicopter, and got back to safety with body and computer hard drives etc..

how 'heroic', 'professional' and even 'civilized'!

hmmm... wonder what old george would say to reality that is emerging through the hypocrisy and lies.

it seems that obambi ordered a group of testosterone injected american thugs, known as navy seals, armed with the overwhelming firepower and armor, to follow a few sneaky cia spies. these then, invaded pakistan (definitely committing a war crime in the process); entered an unguarded dirty house with lots of cows and goats; killed 2 unarmed men and a woman (or 3 unarmed men); shot another woman who was not a human shield in leg; traumatized some very young children; executed osama after he surrendered; panicked when yet another shoddy specimen of american industry, a helicopter broke down without anyone even kicking it; crowded into other helicopter in fear and ran away without taking surviving osama family as planned.

these sort of lies to bolster, non existent professionalism and heroism, and hide, very real cowardice and brutality, of western military forces are nothing new. among many more, we had the jessica lynch incident during invasion of iraq, and we had numerous cases of westerners killing every non westerner on sight whenever they heard a bomb go off or shot fired in iraq, bombing on alleged targets in civilian neighborhoods from 35,000 ft in the air in afghanistan, serbia and now libya, etc..

in contrast, we, sri lankans, were told by the same west that we were not only unheroic but criminal to fight and defeat (even with our minimal resources) against a well armed (through funds collected in west ) tamil tiger murderers and suicide bombers led by big pussy velupillai prabhakaran. west wanted us to appease the tigers and submit to daily killing and maiming of our children. (you see, we are subhumans; we unlike west after 9/11 don't need to resist monthly equivalents in colombo and elsewhere.) even now we are told, by westerns tools (like united nations, amnesty international , human rights watch , etc, who are yet to seriously criticize or investigate western military actions) that alleged deaths, among very real human shields used by tamil tigers, from accidents, and even of tiger leaders, amount to war crimes on our part. our concerns are never addressed and we are denied just and equal treatment.

we should resist these unjust attempts at rewriting history to west's benefit and our detriment, by sticking to and exposing facts, relentlessly.

what i find most contemptible and despicable is the attitude of certain sri lankans who unquestioningly believe these lies from west. some of this foolish credulity may be due to the fact that they and their families depend on western funded ngos. but i think some of them were bred into such servility through several generations of willing slavery.

in the sri lankan blogosphere, this kind of thing is observable among others in indi samarajiva (indi.ca and padashow.wordpress) and sanjana hattotuwa (groundviews, moju, etc..) and their suckerboys. both want sri lanka to submit to western tools' 'judgment' and fail to even address or recognize the blatant injustice and inequality involved.

they happily welcome west's attempts at resource grabs (as in libya). if they blame west, it is always in past tense. so bush gets lot of abuse, but obama is good even though he is doing exactly what bush did with lot more hypocrisy. indi is on record, saying that west is 'more civilized' and has our best interest in mind, and seriously regretting that sri lanka does not have a 'barackian' administration, etc.. in fact i can fill several posts with on record ass licking of these two alone (i might some day).

iow, their willing servility and credulity, induced by cupidity, lead them to live in a fantasy world, where west is heroic and morally superior.

let us continue to expose and laugh at them, though they will continue to censor (while hypocritically preaching freedom of expression) any attempts to point out, their and their western masters', errors and lies, in their blogs.

indi samarajiva's 'truth' and sri lankan truth

indi samarajiva thinks, we, sri lankans, don't acknowledge 'truth ', 'shitt', 'bad stuff' etc., about innocents dying and suffering due to military efforts to defeat murderous tamil tigers. instead we, according to him, engage in what he terms 'bureaucratic niceties','pointless', 'legalistic' 'meta-discussions' about so called 'un panel' report '. by his reading, sri lankans are not 'secure in their identity' to face 'truth'.

as usual he is missing the core.

far from being in denial we, sri lankans, have already acknowledged, and more to the point, experienced, suffering from armed violence. it is he who has not. it is to him, and his ilk, that suffering in sri lanka is at other end of a camera.

similarly, since he cannot feel it, he also dismisses out of hand a very real injustice committed against sri lanka by west, (so called 'un panel' and report is the latest manifestation of this injustice as i said in my last post and other sri lankans have voiced in many fora.)

indi's inability to understand sri lankan reality and mindset is to be expected, since he moves exclusively in english-thinking pseudo elite colombo cocoon (perhaps the only section of sri lankan society that did not experience suffering; these are ppl who thought going through a road block equaled end of the world, while rest of us went through suicide bombs. since they live in fantasy world they get all their predictions about sri lanka wrong, be it defeat of ltte, economy, elections, etc. read what they have written and confirm. lazy foreign journalists who make these their sources make the same mistakes.)

even he seems to be aware of weakness of what he says, so resorts to posting a photo of an injured child to illustrate the so called 'truth' and win sympathy for his argument. in the process he reveals how disconnected he is.

[btw in spite of serious subject matter, it is always funny when a self righteous hypocrite (a paid unp propagandist during elections, willing nepotistic beneficiary of his thoroughly corrupt and nasty political appointee father, a willing columnist at blackmailing sunday leader, owner of scurrilous blogs like padashow.wordpress, etc., etc., ) talks about 'truth'. but lets leave all that aside for this. ]

nobody is denying suffering and deaths of sri lankans due to atrocities of tamil tigers and resulting military operations to defeat them.

we lived among suffering and death. we experienced it; we died, were maimed, were splattered with blood of our own children, friends, relatives, and strangers, first as children and then as adults. all of us remember sound of bombs and ran from gunfire. we saw living hells of mangled bodies and then tried to help with puke filling our mouths (worst among many i saw first hand was the dehiwela train bomb).

but indi thinks we don't 'acknowledge' 'truth'! ha!

and let us not forget lost opportunities of material kind either; property, private and public, destroyed and made useless, businesses and paddy fields blighted, discouraged investments, diversion of resources away from health, education, etc., and even cowardly snubbing of our cricket team by west.

sri lankans suffered in all those ways for 30 long years due to tiger terrorism and gov military efforts aimed at bringing those murderers to 'peace' (read appeasement) talks. west promoted all this. during so called ceasefires sri lankans were handed over to unchecked ltte oppression with western support. west, and likes of indi, ignored our suffering at those times. no photos of dead children appeared in his blog then, though they were here. (maybe likes of indi only experiences 'reality' only in photos, so here are few more horrors we suffered, and more.)

finally, abandoning dehumanizing appeasement of terrorists by blood, we defeated ltte in spite of objections from west (and likes of indi).

we voted in and honored those who help defeat tiger terrorists.

we ended our suffering emanating from armed violence.
its our responsibility not just government's or 'military's as indi implies.

but indi thinks we don't 'acknowledge' that!

now we are told by west and their tools we were wrong to end our suffering the way we did, and those who contributed most to end that suffering (sri lankan military and political leadership) are branded war criminals. (note its the same west that is inflicting suffering on others far from their countries. and its the same same western tools who are yet to say anything much on those inflictions of suffering).

we, (just as much as our military and political leadership) accept our responsibility for our actions. but we object to unjust criminalization. we object to west's denial of equality and justice to us.

indi doesn't object to this injustice, he thinks we should accept it, if we are 'secure' in our 'identity'. he thinks our objections are mere 'bureaucratic niceties','pointless', 'legalistic' 'meta-discussions', etc.,etc.!

what can we say! huh?

well indi samarajiva does live in a stinking cocoon, ... by choice.

we know who we are.

we suffered and escaped.
we acknowledged, assessed, asserted, and acted.
we and our children will live with our disabilities and sad experiences. but we are also proud and joyful that we are free from armed violence. we are not bringing our future generations to a world of violence. they will have opportunity to live without disabilities and sad experiences.
that is an identity and responsibility we are proud of.

indi who did not experience, disclaims responsibility, photographs us from cocoon, separates us, and puts imagined words in our mouths. in his distorted lens, we insecurely deny our suffering and our actions.

prejudiced west try to criminalize us, and deny justice and equality to us.

we will overcome these new evils too, with our own efforts. we will be proud and joyful then too.

bc we know who we are; once victims, who after experiencing and acknowledging the truth realistically, overcame our suffering through our own non criminal efforts.

plagiarizing losers still at it

the loser (and indi padashow's suckerboy) who was attacking me last year is still at it, even though i was rather unforgivably inactive here for last few months.

as usual, unable to originate anything or stick to truth (indi padashow used a fake story about flowers, his loverboy used fake photos, etc, etc. ) now they, believe it or not, have gone even lower; they are now actually plagiarizing my old comments after censoring the same comments then. lol.

to poojitha jayasinghe(timeseye); who is the 'online thug'? what about those naked male pics? why do you admire both?

there is an online thuggery blog devoted to attacking me in all possible ways, including by posting fake naked pics (see details here). i have ample reason to believe that this is done on behalf indi padashow samarajiva and family, bc i exposed them with facts and evidence, and who have promoted and defended that blog in variety of ways. they also want to intimidate anyone else from exposing them in a similar fashion.

that blogger and one of his fans, poojitha jayasinghe (timeseye), are now calling me an 'online thug' there. (lol these ppl are so unoriginal).

why?
bc i will not sit quietly by while i am being attacked. and bc i asked questions from ppl who admired that blog and its tactics.

i always like openness and sunshine. that is why i will clarify the issues here.

in order to do that, i will ask poojitha jayasinghe,

the blogger who attacks me using fake naked pics?
poojitha jayasinghe who repeatedly posts appreciative comment on those posts and pics?

i posed similar questions to timeseye (and 1 or 2 others who left appreciative comments in the blog mentioned) in comments section in his blog (several times bc there was no response and bc they were not published).

(btw i never asked anyone to stop posting comments in that blog, if anyone says otherwise they lie. rather i wanted to know whether they explicitly acknowledge their comments and approve the attack tactics used in that blog)

all of my comments were similar more or less.

iow, they are questions that refer to his own actions, occurrence of which can be proved with evidence. is asking questions like that 'online thuggery', while posting fake naked pics and admiring such attacks, is not? lol. blatant hypocrisy and dishonestly of timeseye here is amazing.

basically why does he expect me to stay silent and ask nothing in face of despicable attacks and his admiration of them, but he feels he has a right to get worked up over my asking him questions, and my description of his actions strictly according to facts? lol.

i will continue to ask such questions from bloggers who leave appreciative comments on a blog that post fake naked pics to attack me. i will also describe the same bloggers according to their actions. why not? anyone who objects, do explain why i shouldn't. anyone? anyone ? bueller? bueller? lol.

btw i did not initiate any email. after some days he did send me an email without any definite word on questions i raised. i replied asking him to be explicit and conduct the exchange in the open where both sides can respond. instead he chose to post lies in the same attack blog where comments now appearing under name sittingnut are not by me, as i have already stated.

i think whole exchange and his lack of answers to questions i raised indicate he has no problem with attack tactics like posting of fake naked pics.

attack blogs, naked pics, fake comments, and indi padashow samarajiva's hypocrisy and online thuggery

as readers of sl blogs may have noticed a particular blog (named after the loser who did not marry jane austen) has taken to attacking me on a regular basis. even during last few weeks during which i was inactive. also note that up to now i have not made any reference to that blog here in spite of repeated attacks.

i am documenting that blog in detail, with screen shots etc. perhaps if i find it necessary i will make a more detailed exposure in the future but some recent comments there from some third parties, prompted me to write this post as a clarification.

[ i will also point out absurdities in an attempt made by indi samarajiva to disclaim his padashow identity in a note below]

do the few bloggers who recently made (authentic) appreciative comments in that blog approve this tactic? they should answer. it will be unfortunate (i promise them that) if they do not make their disapproval explicit.

in addition to posting naked pics of unknown males falsely entitled sittingnut, the attacks made against me there range widely; to unjustified abusive ignorant silly lies (all the way from 'forty something' to 'pedophile'!, lol ), to claims about alleged content of my statcounter account, to censorship of comments, etc. etc.

to be fair, once in while what appear to be straight forward arguments against what i say in this blog are also made, though closer examination show blatantly distorted quotations and lies. in those posts given the need to cover the truth of what i actually said, there is no link backs or screenshots of my posts criticized. most of my attempt to expose the lies and provide the links were censored.

recently blog also features fake comments under the name sittingnut

only comments i made in that blog in recent weeks merely detailed the attacks made on me there, and that blog's connection with indi padashow samarajiva. i will continue to repost that rather lengthy comment even though it is continually censored and substituted by fake comments. all other comments under sittingnut there are fake.

this is of course typical of ppl like indi padashow and sanjana hattotuwa who used similar tactic in now deleted moju blog when i exposed a ngo plagiarism in 2006. they don't have anything solid to attack me so they make up things and use such blogs and tactics to spew them out.

such attacks merely confirm their inborn inadequacies, irrationality, and moral bankruptcy.

of course most ppl will recognize the fake comments but there are born idiots who don't; such as the blogger who goes by the name of chavie. who actually started arguing with the content of a fake comment under the name sittingnut there. this chavie is known among other things to be slavish devotee of rahan samarajiva father of indi. as they say there is no cure for stupidity.

btw i will consider any blogger who makes any authentic appreciative comment there as approving attack tactics used in that blog. (this is of course valid only after after the attacks started.)

indi padashow samarajiva connection
that attack blog, actively promoted from the first day by sunday leader columnist and indi.ca blogger indi samarajiva (no stranger to such blogs given he runs padashow blog. see note below on latest laughable attempt of indi disclaiming his padashow identity) started attacking me in a vicious way only after i exposed indi padashow's hypocrisy, paid unp propaganda, and corrupt political connections, during presidential elections. all those claims by me were based on evidence so cannot be disproved. you will also notice that it is not attacking other bloggers who may share some of my political views objected to there, but then those other bloggers did not expose indi padashow samarajiva, son of corrupt (at the very least by the same standards that indi claim others as corrupt) former political appointee rohan samarajiva.

i will also point out the double standard in kottu run by indi padashow, which, in contrast to referred attack blog, banned among others, tamilnet.tv blog, bc it used some of the same tactics to attack tamil tiger terrorists and their supporters.

btw i am not recommending any ban on any blog even ones that attack me in vicious ways, rather pointing out that kottu run by indi samarajiva has clear double standard. guess why? :-) in fact i would not be surprised if if i get kicked off kottu but blogs that post fake naked pics to attack what indi's consider his opponents remain in kottu.

the blogger concerned is also very active in posting comments in other blogs defending indi padashow samarajiva and his father .

if indi padashow samarajiva and his suckerboys think that such a pathetic attempt at online thuggery will prevent me from exposing their hypocrisy and corruption with evidence they are sadly mistaken. lol

i am also happy to note that it has not prevented at least one other blogger from raising some questions about conduct indi padashow in another blog. but then again, such attacks on me, may have intimidated others who remain silent due to fear of offending indi and his suckerboys.

to counter that probability by indicating that i will continue to be active, and to dispel any future claim to cluelessness on the part of moronic third parties like chavie and timeseye who appreciate the forgeries in that blog is the reason for this post.

refuting indi samarajiva's silly attempt to disclaim his padashow identity

indi samarajiva while defending his 'good name' (lol) in indi.ca from some charges made in another blog claims rather irrelevantly that my identification of him with padashow blogger was a mistake due to his making some joke that padashow made.

not so. and he knows that.

that is why he will not publish my reply comment to his claim. (other comments after mine were published while mine is yet to appear. i delayed this post on purpose to make sure of this. hence the screenshot instead of link )

while (as i made clear from from first) my identification of indi with padashow was not dependent solely on both making same 'joke' as he implies, it should be pointed out that even the claim he makes above can be disproved.

fact is, the alleged 'public' incident that resulted in the 'joke' did not occur as he describe it now or when he first made the claim. as such to claim 'that information was pretty much public' is absurd. lol

even the details he try use to support the alleged 'public' incident actually support the fact it was a lie. i was indeed in the audience of some play that some other blogger referred was playing in. but the play was at a different theater than the one referred to in original 'joke'. so he was not 'at a public play' where i was at. (if anyone else is interested (why?) these facts can be easily checked through visiting the actor's blog, padashow blog, and indi.ca blog at the time. i am course not linking to false 'jokes')

why would anybody use totally wrong locality when describing an allegedly eye witnessed incident? and why would 'public information' get the name of theater so wrong? lol

that is just one of obvious falsehoods. there are lot of other details he got wrong but which would violate privacy of third parties to disprove in detail here. obviously he is spewing falsehoods or his 'friend' fed him falsehoods for some unknown reasons. lol. i will leave third parties out since they have not made 'jokes'.

iow indi made most of it up.
funny thing was person who writes padashow blog made up the exact same thing almost 12 months before him.

why would two different ppl make up same detailed falsehood? wrong in both the main fact and in details? year apart too? nor was he merely repeating it after padashow (as some other bloggers did long afterward), bc (1) he disclaims that himself , and (2) he differs in some minor detail from padashow's story.

no! the 'joke' was coming out of same birdbrain full of some rather ignorant and strange misconceptions and prejudices about me and my situation is life, and like all liars' brains forgets the details of his own lies every time he repeats it .

so quite apart from other facts that identify indi samarajiva with padashow, this clumsy attempt at disproving it only help confirm the identification.

nut's sri lankan blog post roundup - feb 05 2010

in addtion to my normal blogging, starting now i will publish a periodic round up of recent sri lankan blog posts.

in making a selection of notable posts, i will take into account a wider range of blogs than included in most of the sri lankan aggregators, (such as සිංහල බ්ලොග් කියවනය, kottu, achcharu, etc. ).

in a small way it will address some problems with aggregators, such as bugs, narrow selection, blog overload, and impermanence (at present it is impossible to find out the mood of sl blogosphere at a particular day or week in the past.)

there will be a delay of few hours (though not as much as today) from period covered and publication of roundup. so if you want sl bloggers' immediate take on some breaking news etc., go elsewhere (or perhaps read my normal posts and twitter) .

selection and commentary is all mine.

however, ppl are free to suggest and recommend posts and blogs (others' and their own) in the threads below. they are free to make, disagree, or even agree, with my observations, and selections there too.

yesterday was independence day so lot of posts on the subject.

first my own post "sri lanka the truly independent"(en).

lots of blogs are quite rightly in a celebratory mood. සහෘදයා is full of good wishes and thankfulness(සි). ටොපිය features a poem and a graphic of lion flag made of words(සි). indika's blog expresses his pride about our freedom(සි).

ලංකාවේ අපි is one among many that question whether we are truly free of our subservient mindset(සි). similarly, pink clouds blog, exhorts readers(සි), using quotes and poems from patriots of the past, to be truly free and proud sri lankans. මගේ රස කතා... reproduces ජාතික තොටිල්ල by ven. s. mahinda thera(සි). if it sounds familiar even to those not familiar with heroic monk's work, that is bc some of the words were used as lyrics in song මුනි සිරිපා සිඹිමින්නේ.

chanux's blog misses something about this independence day(en). find out what. the paparé chronicles puts a question mark in front of 'independence' bc of divisions among us (en). there are, but should he? life in taprobane decides to separate 'in ' from 'dependence'(en). his post is rhetorically great, but i found some of the expressions and tricks used objectionable and said so, others did not.

lanka rising remembers his own past posts on independence day and puts the current one in perspective(en). his perspective. what is yours?

dd recounts an incident at a pharmacist shop aboard and end up asking 'at what price freedom?'(en). read it to find the connection.

magerata has a simple one line of advice to all(en).

to turn to other subjects.

අනුරාධගේ සටහන් recounts (with photos) how they attended a thai pongal celebration in jaffna(සි). කැටපත්පවුර continues with fourth installment of experiences in singapore(සි). sinhalaya travels cycles through colombo district and produces photos and advice(en).

a voice in colombo gets back to politics with a question 'why opposition keep losing elections?(en). makes some good points as always. but posting from mobile is not a good idea.

lanka rising blog publishes two part extract from a book by patali champika ranawaka entitled (en) 'global recession - blessing in disguise?' is it?

meanwhile kandy road blog is ever ready to plunge into controversial topics. in one, it asks whether sri lanka is a multi (ethnic, cultural, religious) country?(සි). in another it says that our women by seeking equality have even lost the place in society they already had (සි). i am sure readers would have quite different ideas about all that.

ඉංගිරිසි Ingirisi blog continues to deal with 'snags encountered in learning English as a second language'. make sure to visit the blog and give some encouragement even if you don't need the advice.

සංසාරේ අපි.. gets philosophical with a sand castle(සි). really.

dee at rantings in colombo thinks her life should be called dee and the city (en). huh?

කෞශලගේ තොරතුරු blog features what appears to be an old black and white photo of the tooth relic(සි).

big thank you to visitors to my blog + stats

some blogs make a habit of boasting about their visitor numbers. groundviews, terrorist parroting, peacenik ngo run, so called "citizen journalist", blog, in particular sends periodic spam to all and sundry boasting about how many visitors it gets (equating two different things, visitors with pageviews, btw).

whenever i receive them (as i did at the end of last week about their stats so far in january), i am always surprised that my blog, maintained by me in spare time, written by a single person, at a rate of about 1 post a week (1.25 to be exact), has comparable (though lower by about 25-33%) visitor figures to that blog, written by variety of ppl, at a rate of several posts a day, and maintained by especially paid employees.

lol.

so i thought i will take this opportunity to boast about my stats, and thank my visitors .

did i mention that my english (my third language, but only one i can type) is atrocious, my style while direct is aesthetically non existent, and that most of my posts (mostly on politics) are too long? not to mention the fact that i have not updated the template for 4 years.

mahinda rajapaksa's massive election victory was long foretold by this blog and anyone else who is living in real sri lanka (including few other bloggers).

most kottu cocoon blogs chose to live in sf fantasy or run away from all reality, responsibility, and voting, (what a surprise huh?). though no longer dominant as they once were in sl blogosphere, such blogs still occupy a lot of space there.

anyway while sore loser sarath fonseka and his minions are turning themselves in to clowns ( by among other things, going in and out of hotels freely while claiming they are under 'seige') for the benefit of unrepentant terrorist supporters and foreign racists who never miss even an half an opportunity to denigrate sri lanka and its vigorous democracy [update stormcrow has written an excellent post about after election shenanigans now going on. read it], i thought i will write one smug post boasting about my election posts.

biggest problem facing sri lanka - sms spam

it seems that kottu cocoon has decided that biggest problem facing sri lanka is sms spam (mobile phone texting spam). not just any sms spam, but 1 sms new year wish by president mahinda rajapaksa.

this lack of proportion is understandable. after all in the fantasy world of the cloud entombed cocoon where these bloggers insist on living, even a sms (at best a bit of earthly reality at third hand) has more substance than everything else.

as usual they are incoherent in their objections. so here are some questions and answers to clarify things.

are unsolicited texting spam annoying?
certainly. though perhaps less so if they appear as a mere wish, and not a solicitation.

does the receiving party pay for the sms?
not in sri lanka.

is it new?
no. objecting bloggers would have some credibility if same bloggers (almost to a man pro terrorist appeasement/peacenik bloggers) were not silent about all the other spam we got during the years. esp political spam from certain politicians then in united national party and active in appeasement 'peace' talks.

is it illegal?
no.
it is legal to send a sms new year wish.
and it is legal to send political msgs, both text and voice. they are part of political campaigns in other countries, esp in the west.

is this a violation of right to privacy?
depends on what you mean by privacy. probably not
your phone number was used. if you think that is a violation, yes

is there an unsubscribe option?
no. it would be useful to have an unsubscribe option or a more general blocking option. we can then block specific source of messages. it is up to phone companies to provide that.

how much did it cost?
if they were sent to everyone with mobile phone in sl, they must have cost between 10-20 million rupees (however it is clear that some have not received, with few annoyed at not receiving). compared to money spent on other media, that amount is small.

who paid for them?
phone companies ( if they were sent for free ) , or government, or campaign of mahinda rajapaksa.

is such payment legal?
probably. depends.

phone companies are probably doing nothing illegal if they were carrying new year wishes of president.
they also have a right to be partisan, if they want.

legality is most uncertain if government paid for it. while it is a mere new year wish, there is no doubt that, mahinda buffalo is blurring the line between his office and his candidacy to his advantage. if not in this instance, in others. however every sri lankan election was conducted in the same manner by those in power. is that good? no. but it would be impossible to prosecute anyone due to technicalities. nor is this problem (use of benefits of office to conduct partisan politics) confined to sri lanka.

a question about legality of payment would/should not arise if campaign paid for it.



is any of this a big national issue?
no.

should it be?
no.

will it change election results?
no.
as i said before, mahinda rajapaksa is going to win by a big margin anyway. even if any sustained sms campaign (not just 1 new year wish) was launched i don't expect we will be able to notice anything.

still no explanation or retraction from dinidu de alwis

have never blogged about dinidu de alwis here before (bc he never has anything interesting or original to say), but since he attacked me in a blog post today while leaving out most of the facts, here is the full story for anyone interested (why?) and for any future reference.

in the last blog post in his old blog he falsely attributed a quotation on me. i asked for an explanation and a retraction.

he provided neither (so typical of certain kind of person).
just as tellingly, while attacking me today, he never refers to my demand.

anyway to continue,
he also deleted his old blog (which notoriously celebrated the terrorist air attacks) the same day i asked for an explanation. when asked why he deleted the old blog, he said in an email that his employment contract prevented him from blogging under his name. he has given other explanations to others. furthermore his new blog is linked to his twitter which is in his name. ( btw in spite of all that, i am not linking to his new blog bc of what he said in email, but interested readers can easily find his blog by a simple search and two clicks using his own links)

as everyone who read this blog knows, i don't give up when i am falsely attacked (unlike him it seems; he goes to a doctor! but then, he is never attacked falsely and probably never had anything of worth to defend )

so once in a while when he blogs, esp ( but not necessarily) when he assumes an air of objectivity or moral superiority, i do post comments asking him not to be a liar. he of course censors them (as he has a right to do in his blog). but his patience ran out and he decided to publish my comment yesterday and turned bitchy (with some help from padashow blog. oh my!).

i replied accordingly (guess how nice i would be when padashow is involved!) . he published some of the replies and posted a blog post, attacking me (lol), and basically asking to be left alone in his (public!) blog. he says he will censor my comments, when he has already done that all along. (as he has a right to do, as i said before)

btw he in his attacks perhaps unwittingly (though given that he stoops to borrow even from padashow blog, i doubt that) almost repeats what morquendi said in his last attacks on me in 2006. look what that did to morquendi! i am still here, blogging, he is where?

that's the whole story.

i am still demanding and waiting for an explanation and a retraction.

paikiasothy saravanamuttu a "consistent, courageous, anti-racist voice"? facts say otherwise

in fact his public and substantiated actions indicate that he is on the contrary a consistent craven racist. and in accordance with those characteristics he acted as a lobbyist and apologist for ltte terrorist murderers.

i consider him a contemptible criminal; if anyone disagrees, they are free to read this post and dispute the reality and meaning of his actions i will highlight below. unlike others i do not censor anyone here.

sanjana hattotuwa's (cpa affiliated) groundviews blog which has been spouting out racist hate in one post after another with nothing to back their assertions, claims in its latest post that ngo centre of policy alternatives' (cpa) executive director, pakiasothy saravanamuttu, is "one of sri lanka’s most consistent, courageous, anti-racist voices". lol. btw the post is by one qadri ismail "associate professor of english at the university of minnesota." as usual with that site most of its approved writers and readers who are allowed to comment tend to be sri lankans living aboard.

[note- pakiasothy saravanamuttu recently alleged that he has received death threats. i do not approve any kind of illegitimate violence and condemn these threats, if real. however i remain highly skeptical about these threats. more like an attempt to get some attention and undeserved sympathy and money now that the racist cause he championed so consistently has lost.
i also condemn any effort by cpa, saravanamuttu,and others to link those peacefully but forcefully opposing their racist contemptible stands on many issues to these alleged threats.]


bebunking groundviews' claims with facts
in opposition to grundviews' claim i will list only a few of his many, many, many, racist, anti-democratic, anti- justice, anti human rights, anti-freedom, actions here bc even those few will be enough to justify my first statements here.

• paikiasothy saravanamuttu consistently favored appeasement of terrorist tamil tigers, advocating giving these violent murderous racist pussies political power over millions, instead of supporting efforts to defeat them, with violence if needs be. is that courageous? is that anti racist?
• paikiasothy saravanamuttu wanted sri lanka to accept terrorist ltte as the sole representative of tamils in order for appeasement talks to begin, and spoke against those who opposed such a pre-condition for talks. nothing can be more racist and more anti-democratic, anti-justice, anti human rights, anti-freedom, than this claim of sole representatives status of murderers. but he wanted sri lanka to accept it. is that courageous and anti racist? is that anything but down right contemptible?
• he lobbied here and abroad on behalf of terrorist ltte. among many such lobbying efforts i will point to his opposition and attempts to prevent european union ban on tamil tigers. among other things ban made it a crime to collect money on behalf of ltte, which money was used by the terrorists to kill, oppress, and terrorize, sri lankans regardless of their ethnicity, and to fight sri lankan government's military. but he opposed the ban and gave blatantly spurious reasons for his stand on the issue. isn't that criminal for a sri lankan? is that anything but down right contemptible?

as i said before there are many many more such actions by him and his other ngo peacenik colleagues. and like those listed above they too are substantiated by public record during periods of their occurrence. but those posted above will be quite enough to oppose groundviews claims.

he of course has a right to engage in any non violent advocacy he wants. others similarly have a right to point out that what he advocates is racist and contemptible.

does anyone dispute the facts? they are free to do that here, if they can.

or will his defenders run from truth? and attack me for restating well known public facts that they cannot dispute?

let us see.
