my name and spoofing

this post concerns a wrong identification of me with another person and a probable organized attempt to discredit the concerns i raised regarding the cpa statement on trinco by posting spoof comments in moju using the name sittingnut.

my name.
my name is not suranga rajapake.

several people have inquired whether i am he and recently in moju a person calling himself km tried to link him to me with probable malicious intent toward him. i have done all i could to protect him there. i also asked the admins there to edit out his name since he is not in any way connected to the topic under discussion and is probably not even aware of it while all too common personal attacks made against me there may also implicate him in the future. i was unsuccessful since admin there does not feel any responsibility towards (hypothetical! - according to him) innocent third parties. since then several nutters (and that paragon of good blog etiquette sanjana hattotuwa who is connected with both cpa and info share-the people who run moju) have been having some trollish sort of fun at his and my expense there. i have no problem with trolls (and wannabe rappers) having fun at my expense but they better leave innocent people out of it.

under the circumstances i thought a public denial was warranted

as for my real name, i will continue to keep it private though lot of people in blogosphere know it. i will only say that suranga rajapakes and i share the first name. i have a much more common surname. (which btw is one more reason to keep it private since there are several others with same first and surname combination as i have, and they are also relatively speaking better known than i am, so revealing it would lead to more confusion not clarity).

if you have any questions about my identity you are invited to read this blog or email me.

spoofing at moju

at least eight spoof comments claiming to be by sittingnut were posted in less than 24 hours in the moju thread dealing with cpa statement and report whose biased and plagiarized nature i have pointed out with evidence. while some were removed by admin after i pointed them out, new ones were posted immediately after. since i can not read moju all day and in fact only visit it occasionally, it is probable that new comments posted as sittingnut there are not by me. this was certainly true for the better part of yesterday.

since as far as i can read spoofing is done using only my name (so far) and mainly in the thread dealing with cpa report i have a strong suspicion that it is an organized attempt to discredit the concerns i raised regarding the report. that is not a surprise given the reaction of some people connected with ngos.

i also consider it an attempt to prevent me from freely expressing my views there since any comment i leave will be distorted by several other spoofed comments. as long as this continues it is my opinion that moju has failed to ensure freedom of expression to everyone equally. of course since moju blog is private property, they are not required to ensure that, but while this continues nor can they claim to allow free expression.

given the limited options available to me i have decided to leave protest comments at moju and will do so till spoofing of my name stops.

Sittingnut I totally understand ur situation cos u know what I have been facing on the net for some time na...some loser cloned me and leaving abusive comments using my Id just to feel good...cos thats the only way they can feel good, what a sad state they must live in!

U know something...u dun have to explain to anyone who u r...d u? U r only giving the attention that they so cheaply seek. For some ppl, net abuse and plagiarism is a thril, a thrill that they never can seek otherwise. And the fact that they have made u a victim of it is cos u r someone special...someone that annoys them very much. Ur ideas and thoughts threaten the very existence of these low lives...thats why. So ignore the losers. In this world there's always stupid idiots ard...and these r the net equivalents.

TC and always stay strong,
Keshi.

Do you share your last name with a certain descendent of Puran Appu who used to be a minister a few years back?

I think someone told me once that your name was Suranga ******d*.

You don't work for Excide do you?

Oh btw, you would be well advised not to get on the bad side of NGOs. Raise concerns, but be a little bit nicer. They are way too powerful and will come down on you like a monster truck.

and thanks for the comment you left in moju.

yes it must really be sad the state these spoofers live in.

as i said i would like to keep my real name private. :-)

no, i am not connected to 'excide' (i have an idea where you got that and that is why i said in the post "revealing it(the real name) would lead to more confusion not clarity"). my real name is never connected to me in any web search(google or otherwise) results i have seen.

They are way too powerful and will come down on you like a monster truck.
i don't think they are powerful at all. they just think they are .

I think you should reveal the "NGO" blogger names.
as you know i don't say things i cannot prove. :-)

Right across the board I have to say that the average man in the street now views NGOs with immense suspicion.
rightly so given their track record.

Sri Lankan ones, like CPA may not stand up to your moral standards of journalism but they are all we have.
?! really ?

I would say that real anger towards NGOs is directed to "foreigners", not that she was an NGO.
i think that(episode with rebecca) was a bit of a joke
i have to disagree about most of the things you say about foreigners. we should not blame or faults on them.

NGOS They're all you've got & it is better that you have some than none.
we are probably better off without most of them imo.

Some one should prepare a summary of some of the work carried out by various local and foreign NGOs.

There may be a few whose activities are somewhat questionable, but 99% p.c of NGOs do a tremendous amount of work. Infact, I feel that the country is being held together becos of the NGO projects.

Why don't you channel your frustrations towards the ultr-inefficient government departments?

NGOs do not really have a collective voice to respond to various accusations. CHA is the closest thing to that and they have responded in a small way.

NGOs do the most focused, systematic and cost effective development work compared to govts or corporates. Govt projects are often very poorly planned, and end up being wastes.

Do ppl realize how many NGOs work together with the Government to provide basic services to people?
Do you still think NGOs ALWAYS have ulterior motives??? What can the Japanese Govt gain by funding our city sewage systems?

So, I'd like to remind everyone to either DO SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE THEMSELVES, before they criticise the people who do!!

Some one should prepare a summary of some of the work carried out by various local and foreign NGOs.
why don't you do it yourself :-)
if you do you will find that prominent ones like cpa haven't done much .
its the small focused ones that do the work. and they do not interfere in politics.

99% p.c of NGOs do a tremendous amount of work. Infact,
where and how did yo get 99% figure? from thin air ?

I feel that the country is being held together becos of the NGO projects.
well some ppl have delusions.

Why don't you channel your frustrations towards the ultr-inefficient government departments?
in the first place read the post . i accuse specific ngos with specific evidence if you have anything to disprove them do so.
whether government is ultra inefficient or not does not excuse ngos own inefficiency in the same way government corruption does not excuse ngo corruption.

NGOs do not really have a collective voice to respond to various accusations. CHA is the closest thing to that and they have responded in a small way.
well they have spoofers too it seems and wannabe rappers.

NGOs do the most focused, systematic and cost effective development work compared to govts or corporates. Govt projects are often very poorly planned, and end up being wastes.
well tsunami reconstruction showed they are both the same.( except of course some ngos that came to do specific things in the reconstruction which they did.) all the high profile ones do is exchange accusations with government while victims languish in temp homes.
why btw is no audit reports not made available to the public? then we will be able to judge for ourselves.

Do ppl realize how many NGOs work together with the Government to provide basic services to people?
please enumerate. after subtracting u.n. agencies we will see what they do. :-)

Do you still think NGOs ALWAYS have ulterior motives??? What can the Japanese Govt gain by funding our city sewage systems?
read the post i made specific claims. and i did not make any claims about any sewage syatem. and i did not say 'always' ?
anyway please say what is the ngo that is involved in "funding our city sewage systems"? as i said there are ones that are here to do focused work. and they do work. and as i said that sort of ngo do not interfere in politics.

So, I'd like to remind everyone to either DO SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE THEMSELVES, before they criticise the people who do!!
:-) dont shout, otherwise we would suspect you are involved yourself. are you ?
whether i do something constructive or not is my own matter, you do not now what i do or do not do.
as i said please say anything constructive that was done by the ngos that interfere in politics, like cpa. and pl answer the specific concerns raised by me.
