reason tna openly endorsed sirisena

why did racist party tamil national alliance(tna) openly endorse maithripala sirisena instead of tacitly supporting him as they have done so far? they intended to continue with tacit support from beginning to end, given the obvious backslash their overt support it will have on sirisena's southern support.

answer is, tna knew there was a high chance of voter indifference to both candidates, and thus low voter turnout in north. whole election campaign calculation of so called common opposition candidate is based  on garnering maximum number of votes from variety of fringe and marginal groups with contradictory ideologies, goals, and aspirations. fatal problem with this strategy is that, while in order to pander to such disparate groups the candidate has to be a vague nebulous object (natural role for cipher sirisena), such marginal groups care a great deal about what they want and demand concrete details, clarity, and trust, to participate in any meaningful way.

in case of tamil racists, sirisena is not offering anything to them openly that will motivate them to vote for him. in fact he is rejecting even alleged secret understandings and agreements. with only tna's tacit support and no open campaigning or organizational clout before, and on day of, election, there was real possibility that mahinda will actually win in north with low turnout of tna voters. remember that tamil parties supporting mahinda got 25%+ support even when tna was going all out against him and tna was much more popular with tamils. 

so in order to organize, and get out their supporters to vote, and even to provide observers for sirisena in polling booths on election day, tna had to drop its mask. 

however, whether open support at party leadership level will translate into actual grass root organizing and votes is yet to be seen. especially given the rejection and denial of actual open written agreements required for actual work. 

in contrast, as a result of tna's open endorsement, there is no doubt about the reduction in support from variety of groups for sirisena; centrists who reject racist parties gaining power, sinhala buddhist racist fundamentalists, victims of tna's former masters tiger terrorist pussies, etc, etc. some people in these groups who may have thought sirisena a viable pragmatic democratic alternative to mahinda before tna endorsement have changed their minds. 

imo, with racist tna support, sirisena will probably win in north, but with much smaller margins in smaller vote turnouts (in places with comparatively smaller populations to begin with ) than he would require in order  to offset the big margins of victory mahinda will post in more populous south.

any one trying to force a ceasefire with ltte terrorists in sri lanka at this point of time is no friend of sri lanka and is supporting our murderers.

such coercion amount to an act of aggression.
and their agents here should feel proportionate retaliation.

if anyone outside try to coerce us from that course (motivated primarily as in case of british labor government in order to pander to racists in uk tamil diaspora ), i think we should not hesitate to retaliate against their agents here proportionately. we should not stand idly by while force is used against us.

if they use force, including such as any kind of sanctions, those aggressors' agents here who advocated and lobbied for such a course of action from their foreign masters, and refuse to unconditionally renounce their received blood money and unconditionally denounce their masters' use of force against sri lanka should suffer for it.

words to note here are force and coercion. mere advocacy of ceasefire can be tolerated ( not of course seriously listened to). that is simply totally worthless bad advice. but if that satisfies some local constituency in those countries, let them have their hot air, while we articulate our case. but if they go beyond that and use force ( including any kind of sanctions) that is a different thing.

sri lanka should not be passive but assertive. we should not obey commands (no matter who gives the commands ) if they are against our interests and our rights. esp when to obey means giving up our most basic rights including our right to live freely.

over 35k hostages of terrorist ltte escape + how to recognize pro terrorist propaganda in news about civilians and "safe zone"

it is clear from variety of sources that during past day 35000 or more civilians held as human shields by tamil tiger terrorist pussies in so called safe zone and elsewhere have escaped from them in spite of pussy attempts to deter them, (using shootings and suicide bombers, 3 such bombers have killed at least 17 innocents so far ) and natural obstacles like lagoon ( some ppl have waded through chest high in water). ppl have been escaping at the rate of about 500 on average daily, some days more, some days less, from january.

as i said before plight of tamil civilians have only reinforced the truth so obvious to everyone but the pro terrorist peaceniks; "ltte does not care for tamils and is only using them as human shields both literally and in propaganda. ...civilians will never be safe as long as they are under the ltte, ceasefire or no ceasefire, safe zone or no safe zone.anyone under ltte will be used either as a shield or a weapon."

i asked then whether peaceniks will acknowledge the truth now? and predicted that they will not, that they already know it and except for literal idiots among them, they are acting so by deliberate choice. as such they should suffer the same fate as nazi collaborators in europe bc the crimes are similar. (for specifics as to who i mean by peaceniks pl read the linked post or ps below )

during past few months these ngo peaceniks and their pro terrorist tamil diaspora backers have tried to influence foreign governments and un to force a ceasefire ( as if we did not have enough of murderous ceasefires ) on sri lankan government and let ltte mass murderers breathing space to crawl out of the hole. for this purpose they have used selective and biased reports about the so called safe zone, camps where escapees from terrorists temporarily settle, and demonstrations in foreign cities.

here are some points that distinguish ltte (and terrorist parroting peacenik ) propaganda about these things from factual reporting.

terrorist propaganda,

• ignore the fact that government set up the safe zone in the first place.
• are full of unsubstantiated reports that government is attacking civilians in safe zone.
• ignores the ltte military build up in the safe zone in spite of clear proofs ( including visual ).
• ignore the fact that governmet has been supplying food and medicines to safe zone ( and the fact that ltte commandeers most of these)
• ignore the fact that ltte has held not only innocent civilians and used them for its military purposes, but that it has held un and ngo workers for the same purposes as well.
• make unwarranted comparisons between nazi concentration camps and camps where civilians escapees are temporarily settled to which un, red cross and some other ngos have access.
• repeat the unsubstantiated 100,000 as the number of civilians trapped in ltte control. it was "100,000" in january it is "100,000" now, in spite of 500 average daily escapees who populate the camps mentioned above.
• imply that any military action to finish off ltte will be the death of the "100,000", in spite of the remarkable fact ( for which sri lankan military should receive more recognition) that civilian deaths in military actions from 2006 to now, has been minimal compared to other such wars .
• use demonstrations in foreign cities to push the racist agenda that ltte = tamils and the laughable claim that ltte is fighting for tamil rights, when vast majority of tamils in sri lanka and lot of tamils in diaspora do not support terrorist tigers, and ltte has been the number one cause of tamil suffering.
• ignore the fact that these foreign demonstrations are organized by terrorist fronts
• do not mention that in past month terrorist front groups in norway attacked the sri lanka embassy there, violating a law that even ancient barbarians respected and that pro ltte norwegian government has yet to arrest the perpetrators in spite of video evidence. it is not by coincidence that lot of pro terrorist ngos like center for policy alternatives (cpa) , free media movement(fmm) , inform , and other ngos have norway or groups in norway as principal donors.
• neglect to mention the fact that most of noise coming from foreign governments come from places (like india , britain, and norway ) where there is a tamil population (with attendant and intimidating pro terrorist criminal groups) and where elections are underway or soon expected. noise is mostly confined to parties or individuals politicians who will be affected by tamil voting. in other words these are despicable attempts at pandering to racism to score political points locally. thankfully most of the grown up responsible politicians in those countries ( perhaps well aware of their countries less than stellar historical record) are staying well away .

i can probably make some more points but will stop for now.

now if you see any "news" report that does any of the above please protest any way you can (write/email to editors and news organizations, comment on blogs, use social media like facebook and twitter etc) . feel free to use the points i make above .

every single contribution is important bc only relatively few sri lankans have the economic resources to engage in such protest against ltte propaganda through internet etc. it is also important bc most foreign news organizations do not have real news sources in sri lanka and rely on second hand sources that have been tainted by terrorists sympathizers like bbc sri lanka service or ngos like cpa ( which is still sometimes called "independent" in news items when it has repeatedly shown its pro terrorist bias, among other things when it publicly lobbied to stop the eu ban on ltte) .

some thoughts on remembering and writing about black july

it is right that we remember and never forget what happened on july 1983.

other bloggers have written about this yesterday and today. mostly in the form of personal recollections but with some reflections, more or less, on broader concerns (i have written about my personal experiences of 83 somewhere else sometime ago, i may write more fully again in the future).

however i have several moral concerns about how we write about it and our motives. because i believe that most of the writers had the best motives, i am not accusing anyone, but i will point out what i consider wrong and should be avoided when writing and reflecting about 83. readers and writers can read the articles and posts concerned and others of similar ilk, and judge for themselves. (all these judgments of mine are of course, as with all moral judgments, completely subjective. while i consider them wrong that does not mean i am urging bans on people who express them, rather i am pointing out why i find them morally unacceptable)

when we write about july '83 (or anything else for that matter),

1/
we should not indulge in generalizations, such as, "sinhalese" did that or "tamils" this etc etc. people who do that are racists and only marginally different from racist rioters who attacked innocents. if we accuse, we should be specific; either naming people and/or their specific actions. for instance it is wrong and racist to accuse "sinhalese" in general, for '83.

2/
we should not exaggerate, either to increase the emotional impact of suffering or to ... boast ( i think that is the right word, tough i gave it some thought before using it ) about "good deeds". it is completely ok to describe suffering, and write about people acting with common humanity and helping others. but please do not exaggerate. exaggerations unless done by a great creative artist, are not hard to detect.

do not speculate about "lessons for people" and other such nebulous stuff.
major point brought up when people reflect on '83 is about what majority of people "learn" (or did not learn ) by it. such questions are by nature unfocused, superficial, and unanswerable, and do not contribute to rational discussion. writers who ask this then generally tend to go on a tangent and indulge in unfounded speculations. "people" is a big word ,do not speculate about people's knowledge or actions because they are by definition unknowable. instead give your opinion after clearly indicating it as such. in doing so stick to facts if you can, and in this case observe what happened when similar preconditions for july 83 prevailed later.

finally do not commit the major error of believing and implying in those writings, that ltte terrorism resulted from july '83 or that it was a major contributing factor in intensification of that terrorism.

that is false causality.

atrocities of ltte do not necessarily flow ( as some believe) from grievances of its members even if some of them have suffered grievously during 83. (imo what happened was that some criminals without any moral base used 83 as excuse to join ltte and ltte used 83 as a propaganda justification for its crimes).

to believe such a lie is a grave injustice to all those who have suffered and did not take out their anger on innocents. do people take out their fury on others unjustly? yes (this is not limited to ltte cadres) .but they are doing so by their own free will and as such are criminals no matter what they suffered. (to put it in another way, poverty is no excuse for theft.).

people choose to kill and commit other crimes. imo we are human beings because we have free will. (if you do not believe in free will and think human beings to be automations reacting blindly to events, you should ask yourself why you are writing about july '83 on the first place, beacuse by such reasoning everything, including riots, were inevitable).

killings of 13 soldiers by ltte is not an acceptable excuse for rioting. killings of innocents and other crimes on july '83 by rioters is not an excuse for joining ltte.

individuals who commit crimes (either rioting , joining ltte, or stealing, etc) giving some grievances or other ( real or fake ) as an excuse, would have committed those crime or something similar anyway; by choosing to commit crimes they betray their lack of a moral base for making such decisions, nothing more.

i was a roman catholic for most of my life and i have a hunch that i will return to the church before i die. my love for the church was based on more than my faith in god (which at present is non existent). imo its theology is better and more sophisticated that any other religions' philosophy (including buddhism's which i consider a religion btw). i am a great fan of both the current and the previous pope. i also think that catholic church was the greatest formative influence in creation of the modern world and culture in which we live, whether or not we, or the church itself, like how it has turned out. and i love the pageantry, singing, and all other associated paraphernalia.

throughout its history (and especially in recent history) catholic church has been a courageous moral support for peaceful struggles against authoritarian regimes. but unfortunately it is also true that church (or more correctly individual members of it, including very high ranking ones), throughout its history ( and again esp. during recent history ) has been an active collaborator of fascist regimes and political groups, including ones that have used violence and terror against their opponents, ranging from hitler to franco to argentine junta, to columbian paramilitaries, to perpetrators of rwandan genocide, to many others

i oppose peaceniks because they think peace is worth any cost including the cost of democracy, freedom, justice, and human rights. i do not oppose broad calls for peace issued by the church though i consider them rather naive. such calls are generally not slanderous against sri lankans and military (unlike say statements and writings by peacenik ngos like center for policy alternatives, by such terrorist back lickers like groudviews' sanjana hattotuwa, or by racists like indi.padashow, all which are ultimately based on terrorist pussy propaganda and not on facts)

but there are exceptions and mannar bishop is one. he is acting like a peacenik and a ltte back licker, in contrast to archbishop and most of his colleagues.

he has been active in propagating several ltte propaganda inspired slanders. among many, pesalai incident is a case in point. though there was no evidence to back him up he turned what was, at most, either an accident or a case of indiscipline on the part of few navy personnel, and more probably nothing of the kind, into a wholesale and totally unjustified denouncement of the navy and military in general forgetting his christian participles. he had a right to ask for an investigation and to criticize investigation if it was improper, but he had no right to pass judgment. there were several such occasions when he forgot principles of justice and became a terrorist parrot.

priests under him led some police officers in sl child protection agency, to so called ltte controlled areas during ceasefire to arrest a british pedophile ( that catholic priests of all people should help arrest pedophiles is ironic but that is another matter) hiding there. whether the priests were in cahoots with terrorists or not we do not know for certain, but the police officers were kidnapped by ltte and held against their will for months. they were used as bargaining chips by murderous terrorists. and what did bishop of mannar did during that time? nothing.

he has allowed priests under him like the ones depicted above to participate in ltte propaganda and has not disciplined them as far as i know. bishop of mannar himself has attended ltte propaganda rallies and other functions, including reportedly the funeral of roasted murderers like thamilchelvan and have turned a blind eye to child soldiers participating in such functions.

all of that lead us to believe he is a willing collaborator of a murderous fascist group.

a golden opportunity
but if he is not, or at least has changed his mind, he now has a golden opportunity to take the neutral ground that christian shepherds should take .

during the ongoing operation in mannar district ltte has broken its agreement ( great surprise that!) to keep the vicinity of madhu church free of war. it has placed artillery there and is using them to attack security forces as we write. so far military has not retaliated against those positions.

if bishop of mannar is not a peacenik and a ltte bottom licker (all of whom as expected are silent on this), he should speak up and publicly ask ltte to remove the said artillery.

will that influence the ltte to remove the artillery? probably not. but it matters that bishop prove himself to be a christian and not a terrorist supporter. all catholics from archbishop down must pressure him to do so.

without such a call from him, all his statements esp his denouncements against military if and when madhu church sustains damages (hopefully not) will be hypocritical . (this will also be true of all other peaceniks as well, but most of them are beyond the point of no return; they will never oppose terrorist murderers).

so which are you, lord bishop? a supporter of terrorist murders, or a christian?
should we too be forced to prosecute you as a collaborator of terrorists and lover of fascists when the war is over, as argentines have done with several of their priests?

as i have said before this is not something new; this what ltte pussies do. they have done it at all times (warning: graphic photos) during ceasefire periods, during periods when government was not conducting military operations, and during periods of military operations.

will peaceniks and ltte parrots stupidly connect this with the unlamented ceasefire agreement(cfa)'s official end today? probably. see here for what they did after another recent bombing forgetting what went before. that was typical. i have no doubt they will repeat that performance today yet again. let us bloggers see which peacenik blog is first to blame everyone but the terrorist pussies for this murder.

all other sri lankans, with eyes to see reality and not beholden to terrorists, know what terrorists really are, and that this kind crime is to be expected from them at all times, cfa or no cfa .

existence of ltte terrorists are not compatible with principles of justice, freedom, human rights, or democracy. only peacenik criminals who have no regard these principles( in spite of their public lip service ) will advocate peace with these murderers.

only people and organizations that have unquestioningly accepted the racist and anti-democratic ltte claim to be tamils' sole representative were eligible.

big pussy after going through them decided in favor of sunanda deshapriya's free media movement (fmm). reasons are known only to the murderous megalomaniac but believed to be two fold, according a soon to be roasted underling of the coward.

fmm was dirt cheap as usual. they would do any dirty work for terrorists for almost nothing. after all clueless ifj or reporters without borders pays the fmm bills.

in contrast peaceniks jehan perera and kumar rupasinghe, wanted lots (in cash too). biased journalism: was kebitigolawa bus a military target ?

after yesterday's terrorist suicide bomb targeting innocents, certain foreign correspondents (from afp and reuters specifically) took it upon themselves to make a totally unfounded judgment about terrorist's targeting criteria. they said that ltte has not targeted civilians in recent years ( even they cannot deny earlier horrors of pussies) limiting themselves to military targets. they went on to say that this targeting may be a retaliation for military operations.

have they forgotten kebitigollewa bus massacre that killed at least 67 people including 15 children on 15 June 2006 (link contains photos and is not for the faint of heart). this was before mavil aru so before any major military operation by gosl. have they forgotten the killings of innocent farmers that happen regularly (last one on 26 november 3 days ago in mahavilachchiya e-village)

of course this kind of biased pro terrorist reporting is nothing new. as i and others have pointed out, racists like simon gardner of reuters and bbc' sri lankan section regularly and repeatedly engage in this sort of reporting. in addition to such white washing of terrorists, such reporters engage in several other forms of biased journalism when it comes sri lanka; racist equation of tamils with terrorists, unquestioning acceptance of ltte's false claim to be representative of tamils, wrong identification of gosl as "sinhalese" (when it fact all the major democratic minority parties are in it), and repetition of absurd white van conspiracy theories of terrorists among others.

so what are we, as ordinary sri lankans opposed terrorism, to do to counter them ?

well for a start, speak out when you see such reports, write about them, and openly condemn them. write to the editors or administrators of mainstream news outsets (be they newspapers, tv stations, or websites) that publish this kind of reporting. most have feedback options, use them. just state the facts and why the report is inaccurate, simply. don't worry too much about english. be authentic.

such write backs matter because generally people who run mainstream news organizations and websites want to preserve their reputations and credibility. as people who have worked in news organizations will know pro israeli organizations and individuals (rightly) send letters by the dozens when there is even a hint of an inaccuracy in reports about israel in any newspaper anywhere in world. we cannot match that, but we can start. in any case reports about sri lanka are comparatively rare, so any letter you write will ultimately help induce people who write and publish, to think twice and check facts in the long term.

bloggers have reacted in various ways; some merely acted as reporters, a lot expressed shock and horror, some have been sober and solid in their analysis, others (like cerno) have made valid points about our psychological non reaction to bombs (though it must be stated that most ppl i know were genuinely concerned and hardly indifferent, even though or because of, like me, most have experienced bombs at first hand).

most "interesting " have been the reaction of peacenik bloggers (btw it is great that blogosphere that only two years ago consisted almost exclusively of peaceniks, a tiny minority of sri lankan public at large, now increasingly accommodate other bloggers. at this rate, as i predicted, we would eventually have a blogosphere that will genuinely represent sri lanka).

anyway the peacenik bloggers were "oh so horrified", and after blaming mahinda buffalo, chithanaya, militray, and even the public ( but never the terrorist pussies who according to them will "love peace" if given the opportunity - really !) want us to appease terrorist so that we get "peace". they as usual forget to mention that such a course will involve giving up principles of democracy, human rights, justice, and freedom. similarly they forget millions who will have to suffer a living death under ltte if there was such an appeasement. to peacniks those people (or anyone outside their colombo/foreign cocoons for that matter) are not human.

i was tempted to challenge them in their own blogs but unfortunately am busy at the moment. however as soon as i get some free time i will write a post going through a selection of their posts in detail and examining their confused logic and attitudes.

more racist reporting by western media's sri lankan corespondents

one more example of racist reporting by westerns media can be seen below. the headline reads “Tamils kill seven civilians" (this time the culprits are 'afp correspondents'). this equating of tamils with terrorists is inexcusable. being journalists should not excuse anyone. they are free to be racists and slander sri lankans if they want, but we should expose their racism and unprofessional conduct.

this equating of tamils with terrorists is exactly what ltte terrorist pussies promote. their propaganda is always full of that. anyone who parrot that is doing terrorists' work for them.

we should continue to name and shame such terrorist parrots and racists whenever we can. i have already pointed out the examples of habitual racism by simon gardner the reuters correspondent here and bbc's sri lankan section. that they change the headline later does not take away the enormity of the crime or the damage caused by the slander (see the number of australian sunday newspapers this was published in).

sri lanka's so called free media movement of sunanda deshapriya has always been quick to defend such racists and terrorist biased journalists. they call exposing of some journalist's terrorist parroting and racism, a threat to freedom of expression. in fact such exposure is part of freedom of expression. by trying to stop such exposure it is the fmm that is trying to curtail freedom of expression. in other words they find nothing wrong with tamils being equated to terrorists, but condemn anyone who point out (with evidence) that some journalists are repeating ltte propaganda.

sri lankan peaceniks, who also regularly parrot terrorist propaganda, believe this sort of racist stuff over usually more balanced local mainstream media, which says a lot about their level of intelligence, bias, and attitude. people like sanjana hattotuwa of groundviews swear by this kind of reporting; if it is foreign, it is god given truth to them. they will censor (and have censored) anyone who points this error in their writing or their sources. as i have said what else can you expect from people who think peace is worth any cost (including the cost of human rights, justice, freedom, and democracy). only immoral racists can hold such a postion. how many of those people who went into hysterical exaggerations about the 'eviction' incident will condemn this kind of blatant examples of real racism?

that is why we must continue to expose the hypocrisy of all those people in whatever small way we can.

use of violence against ltte terrorists - approve or disapprove?

that is the question peaceniks avoid answering. why? let us examine the question.

ltte pussies oppress sri lankans, especially tamils in north and east provinces, and commit various crimes. they violate human rights. they and their leader have been convicted of these crimes numerous times. as long as they are allowed to act with impunity sri lanka will not be able to enjoy sustainable peace. they should be brought to justice. it is sri lankan government's duty to bring them to justice. given armed ltte's well demonstrated nature, that inevitably requires use of violence.

violence and war are ugly and costly. this is not a hollywood movie where only the villains suffer, die, and always lose. in war people suffer and die, not only the terrorists but also security forces personnel and innocent civilians. horrific accidents are inevitable. few non ltte criminals or sickos may make use of it for their own ends. terrorists too will score some successes.

(i am not saying that we should accept innocent or security forces deaths, accidents, non ltte criminals, or terrorist victories, with indifference. such things should be prevented and reduced as far as possible and responsible people held accountable. but those things do inevitably accompany violence of all kinds. they have done so in the past and will do so in the future, here is sri lanka and elsewhere in the world.)

only justifiable decision
we sri lankans in general know all that. faced with the above question we have decided. we do approve the use of violence against terrorists if needs be. imo this is the only morally and pragmatically justifiable answer to that question.

we know that as long as ltte is there, fellow sri lankans will be deprived of freedom, justice, democracy, and human rights. nor will sri lanka reach its full potential when a large section of it is ruled by a fascist megalomaniac like big pussy prabhakaran. we also know that not using violence, letting ltte terrorists act with impunity, and appeasing them so that we may have some 'peace' in colombo, will not work. appeasement of terrorists and fascists have never worked anywhere at any point in history.

given all that anyone who admits the possibility of moral judgment will admit the validity of the moral justifications for the use of violence against ltte. only completely unrealistic idiots or completely corrupt ltte sympathizers will oppose the possible use of violence against ltte.

imo once that decision is taken to use violence against ltte, all sri lankan governments will eventually be forced due to limited resources of the country, to adapt a pragmatic strategy like the one adapted by the present administration. as such victory in this war will take a long time. that is the reality.

peacenik avoidance
as i said peaceniks always avoid expressing a clear opinion with regard to the use of violence against terrorists when directly confronted with above question. however, their general mindset, writings, and actions, imply that they prefer non violence against ltte above all else.

(to clarify i include among the peaceniks the likes of paikiasothy saravanamuttu, jehan perera, jayadeva uyangoda, kumar rupasinghe, sunila abeysekera, sunanda deshapriya, and their underlings working in such peacenik ngos as centre of policy alternatives(cpa) and free media movement (fmm) like sanjana hattotuwa. while few young unimportant peaceniks may be naive pacifists with cocooned lives unable to think for themselves, others cannot use stupidity as an excuse)

they have always advocated appeasement of terrorists through giving ltte (as opposed to democratic ne tamil representatives who can come in when ltte is gone) more power over north east. they accepted without protest ltte's anti democratic claims to be sole representative of tamils. they remained silent in the face of ltte violence and provocations, only opening their mouths if and when government retaliated to condemn it (eg. throughout cfa, esp during december 2005 to april 2006 when sl militray endured almost daily attacks by ltte without responding and during mavil aru closure). in fact they are extremely reluctant to unambiguously criticize ltte for anything and if they are forced to criticize ltte due to some horrible atrocity, they always take care to couple gosl in the condemnation. at any given point of time what they say is identical to what ltte propaganda is saying. they are also quick to attack anyone who advocates violence against terrorists and to label him or her a sinhala chauvinist.

their preference for non violence against terrorists is also apparent in their frequent allegation about human rights violations by government or military. most such allegations stem from absurd white van conspiracy theories dreamed up by ltte spin office, others are merely the inevitable consequences of use of violence against terrorists including accidents or actions of few criminals or crazies. they have so far been unable come up with any evidence for any deliberate action or policy by the government or the military to violate human rights of sri lankans. this lack of evidence does not prevent them from continuing to parrot ltte when freely slandering the military as a whole. such freedom itself is a contradiction of their allegations.

peace at any cost
in other words "peace at any cost" seems to be their governing idea. however when confronted with the fact that 'peace' with ltte can only came at the cost of human rights, justice, democracy, and freedom, and the sheer immorality of appeasing terrorist oppression, they run to take refuge behind platitudes about conflict resolution, peace building theory, etc. to hide their moral bankruptcy.

sri lankan general public (and those who govern the country on their behalf) do not have the luxury of taking refuge behind platitudes or theories. they have to deal with ltte and its terrorist crimes here and now. they are in fact dealing with it in the only morally justifiable way possible.

how to stay relevant if others decide and one doesn't
at no point have peaceniks ever admitted the possible moral necessity of defeating ltte militarily in spite of all too clear ground situation and history. however some of them have said that if government is going to use violence against ltte terrorists ( presented as primarily motivated through personal political ambitions of president and other politicians) and if people are being mislead by media controlled by the state to support the use the violence against ltte ( they underestimate the public and overestimate the media in general and state control of them in particular, in spite of all evidence to the contrary.) they should try to influence how the government is going to use violence. note the ifs.

in other words this kind of peacenik will also avoid clearly answering the question (though making it clear that their sympathies lie with non violence against terrorists). however aware that they will be left in behind by the sri lankan public and lose all relevance because of this, they want to gain some relevance by pretending to have some sort of right to dictate how the government should be using the violence. basically they try to dictate the limits of a course of action about whose moral justifications and causes they have no real idea and do not even admit the existence. needless to say few peaceniks who have attempted this have ended up spouting hypocritical inconsistent nonsense.

moral rights and responsibilities
whether people like peaceniks who intentionally avoid confronting the reality have a moral right to criticize those who have taken the responsibility to confront it head on, is a question we all have to ask.

of course this being a free country everybody is free to say whatever they want. that includes immoral hypocritical rubbish peaceniks spout. it is the genrel public who will decide the validity (moral or otherwise) of their statements. let us confine ourselves to exposing their actions, their avoidance of reality, and their disgusting immorality with regard to terrorist crimes. sri lankan public in general have realized the truth about peaceniks. some naive foreigners who still give them the benefit of the doubt (mainly because they being foreigners do not have to face sri lankan reality) will eventually realize the truth about them.

in any case peaceniks should be confronted with the reality whenever they try to spout their hypocritical nonsense and asked express their opinion about the use of violence against terrorists unambiguously, so that everyone can judge what kind of people they really are.

in the comments section of that post sanjana hattotuwa eventually resorted to his usual trick of censoring my comments. as a result my answers to suntzu, sh, and adharmishta, who addressed me directly were not published. so was my comment challenging sanjana hattotuwa's statements esp. his 'plucked from thin air' invention and attribution to me of several statements i have never made. (isn't it ironical that this low life holds forth in his ict4appeasement blog about blog codes of conduct while denying something as simple as right of reply). then again such despicable misbehavior is his nature; i am not at all surprised.

he also censored at the same time a comment by me in the post entitled "darfur vs. sri lanka" pointing out in some detail the errors made by the poster regarding the data and conclusions. i will probably deal with that later in another post. such falsehoods and errors can only exist in a place where freedom of expression is curtailed. while sanjana hattotuwa may want to live in a fantasy removed from reality by censoring anything that questions his false beliefs, sri lanka at large is a free country where we can point out and expose his and peacenik's lies.

devolution proposals and tamil aspirations

sri lanka freedom party unveiled its proposals to aprc yesterday(30th). no doubt in the coming days various people will assess them (and other proposals from others) in detail. some will say they do not go far, others that they go too far, in offering a solution to political aspirations of tamils in north and east.

however one has to ask a fundamental question; what qualifies anyone to judge this or that proposal on behalf of north and east tamils in general? one can make all sorts of statements and judgments as individuals or as representatives of other groups and parties, but is anyone qualified to legitimately represent ne tamils?

ltte terrorists claiming to be their sole representative are certainly not qualified. their claim is based on terror, oppression, and physical elimination, of tamil leaders. peaceniks who will undoubtedly jump to asses and pass judgment, do not represent anyone at all, though given their regular parroting of ltte terrorists, they can be taken as representatives (or more correctly tools) of murderous pussies.

mps from tamil national alliance or itak are puppets of ltte and were elected by ltte, nobody else. as long as they are happy with such an election and consider ltte to be tamil's sole representative their legitimacy in a democratic state like sri lanka is equivalent to zero.

few remaining survivors of tiger terrorist purges of democratic tamil leaders may have some claim. but given that their political freedom is curtailed by terrorists, one can question the extent of their representation now.

former militant groups and karuna faction do not have legitimate democratic credentials to represent ne tamils or any subsection of them at present.

political freedom of non ethnic sri lankan parties like unp, slfp, and various leftist outfits are also curtailed by the terrorists in north east, so they too cannot claim to represent tamils there

in other words at present there isn't anyone who can legitimately claim to represent tamils of north and east democratically. reason why there aren't any such representatives is the terrorism of ltte.

one of its main goals of sri lankan state should be to ensure that all its citizens have political freedom and are represented democratically in its polity. only then can any legitimate and sustainable proposals of devolution be debated and implemented.

only democratically elected representatives of north and east tamils will have the right to demand from, discuss, and compromise with, representatives of other participants of sri lankan democracy, in order to arrive at a political solution acceptable to all.

legitimate representatives of other minority groups (like upcountry tamils or muslims), unhindered by terrorism, were (and are) able to successful engage with sri lankan democracy in order fulfill their aspirations. grappling with democracy through non violent methods is not an easy task, nor should it be if it is a real democracy. it is hard, messy, and sometimes corrupt, but that is how it is in every democracy and it is certainly worth it when compared to other alternatives. ne tamils are prevented from engaging and participating in democracy by tiger terrorists.

that is why sri lanka should try to defeat ltte. anyone who wants justice to be done to tamil aspirations should support that effort. not to do so and to claim one stands for the rights of tamils is to be hypocritical.

until ltte is defeated or at least contained so that it cannot seriously affect the political freedom of tamils or their new democratic representatives, all the words poured out in assessing various proposals of devolution will be so much hot air and propaganda from various sides. (i am not saying they are not useful. hot air and propaganda can be useful, but they won't make much difference)

it is clear that even without the second brief rain interruption, or any cloud cover, 38x2 overs could not have been bowled before darkness fell. they should have reduced the no of overs further from the start or carried the match to reserve day if they wanted a longer game.

secondly, it was certainly ridiculous to start after the second interruption without formally reducing the overs and setting ( and informing all concerned ) the new target .

that second interruption and the confusion was partly responsible for our loss imo.

thirdly it was wrong of australians to celebrate before the match was formally over. i am not quite sure but according to a friend of mine umpires cannot stop a match bc of bad light.( if anyone know better pl correct me) as such even though they made a mess of it, umpires were at least following the law.

all that left a bad taste

but it was great match as far as cricket is concerned and australia won it fair and square.

terrorist pussies were up to their usual tricks tonight. typical behavior. what more can you expect? does anyone really think talking peace and appeasement of such people will work? esp. when we saw tonight the results of that part appeasement, the cfa? they will carry out attacks even when they are reduced to handful. a sustainable peace that respects the principles of democracy, justice, human rights, and freedom, and ltte as it is now, are simply not compatible. as such there is only one way to go.
