according to tradition of this blog, i will publish the results of 2010 presidential election held today on one page (updated as results are received).

today instead of full vote numbers which would be huge an meaningless ,

there will be a running count of totals so far for main candidates.

sarath fonseka 4,173,185
40.15%
last update 1625hrs 01/27/2010.

All the results are in. mahinda rajapaksa has won. only the formal announcement by election commissioner is needed now.

[sp note added on 04/08/2010 - for results of parliamentary general election held on april 8 2010 go here]
-
in addition, i will give a 2 percentage splits for each electoral division for 2010 and 2005.

left numbers are percentage of votes for mahinda rajapaksa (2005 on top, 2010 bottom ) , right top is ranil wickremesinghe's percentage in 2005, right bottom is for sarath fonseka 2010.

i will highlight each division with that division's winner in that year (blue for mr, green for rw, brown for sf )

all results will be linked to election department website, where you can find the official results with much more details if needed.

<<<"Australia’s Liberal link to Sarath Fonseka campaign
January 26, 2010 10:57 pm

A Sarath Fonseka-led government would help stem the tide of Sri Lankan refugees seeking asylum in Australia and boost investment ties between the two nations, according to Liberal Party deputy federal director James McGrath.

Mr. McGrath has been quietly working on the Sri Lankan opposition coalition’s campaign since December, conducting focus polls and conceiving the 10-point pledge that has helped catapult the country’s former army chief into a winnable position.

“The best way to stop Sri Lankan boatpeople turning up on our shores is to have a stable government that’s addressing the concerns of Sri Lankans,” he said yesterday.

“That is providing basic services (housing, schools, hospitals) and I think all sides of politics in Australia, without interfering in internal politics, would like to see that happen.” – (The Australian)">>>

Excellent presentation. Congrats! However, what are the black/dark brown percentage results. Percentages indicate that they should be blue, as RHS (MR) gets a majority in all. PL clarify or correct. Thanks

Hey S/nut

Nice job with the updates. I have been following your analysis, pretty much inline with my understanding of events.

Are you still a UNP member?

It seems itty bitty pity me indi bindi is as delusional as ever when it comes to understanding the lankan pulse let alone the polity.

Anonymous said...

Sarath Fonseka boastfully took credit for wiping out the LTTE terrorists - and the Tamil people voted for him for that reason! This seems to be the clear message that the Tamil people have conveyed - that they don't want LTTE or any other separatist movement in their ares anymore because they have suffered enough under the LTTE monsters. So, I suggest that the President re-elect should take note of this and ensure that no separatist movement ever raises its ugly head in the country anymore - and crush any attempts by such groups at the very outset - because that's opinion the Tamil people and the rest of the country have voiced in the concluded elections.

Why only third world countries political power people rob the gov. money, high bribe and abuse the power?
example western countries give away money to welfare /disiblity people and still country is wealthy but srilanka do not do these in monthy permenent bases but still county is poor.If polical people do the honest job. srilanka will be shine and bright as singapore. hope some one change the law as singapore.
some one mention about president Mahinda as a Sadam Hussain..i can not agree of 50%..Sarath out of circle unless as other viewer mention wants to be Osama Bin Laden??...(???) Glad Cold Hearted selfish terrorist Prebaharan is distroyed by Mahinda/Sarath.
according the Vanni Refugee's statments Tiger Group Killed more than 40% on the innocent tamil people who were either did not follow them or did not listen them. and 80% clever/smart tamil people r happy now. Some fake fool tamilian keep on telling Prabaharn is escaped? Come in Give Break...hehehehe.
when he had his Vanni/ man power/weopen power/money he could not keep the people happy and could not survive..what the hell he can do as fugitive incase if he escaped (not true)???? awake up 20%foolish tamilian. specially live in Canada/Europe. ofcourse they r happy because of the tamili terrorist problem they immigate as polital refugee and living way better than they could immagine.

Indian government as snake what ever they made illigally (chemical bomb) issue to srilanka to test them ..hope srilanka stay from filthy india.
