got what he deserved

shamil salmanovich basayev (the beast) was killed (decapitated according to news) yesterday in ingushetia. he was the chechen terrorist responsible for beslan school massacre among other atrocities. he like the big pussy believed that civilians were legitimate targets. he too eliminated alternative moderate chechen leaders.

like in sri lanka there were people, so out of touch with reality, who were only too happy to justify all that and claim that there are no 'terrorists' or even 'civilians' and to equate him with all chechens.

president putin rightly said he got what he deserved. let's hope more and more terrorists get what they deserve.

It would be interesting to see how his rebel movement fares after this. I'm not too sure how iconic his leadership of the Chechen 'freedom' movement was comparatively to Prabha but the repurcussions could give us some pointers to possible advantages/disadvantages of popping Prabha...I wonder how many of the LTTE bootlickers will flame me for that suggestion :)?

Just like most of the Terrorist Leaders, an oppurtunist! Seeing people in frustration markets him self as their saviour.

Well this guy also happened to Bump off a few of his fellow Rebel leaders, seen as a threat. Therefore we'll have to wait and see, whether there will be a swarm of So Called 'Next-In-Commands' popping up like in Iraq, or it dies down and they resume talks.

However even to resume talks, there should be some sought of leader emerging.

Applied to our situ., if Praba alone is Bumped off, to carry the militart operations there are many, like Pottu Amman and Susai. Whether there will be considerable infighting, is to be seen.

The political movement of the LTTE, is however controlled by a couple a million miles away, and maybe Tamilselvam gets a word in once in awhile.

To totally dismantle the LTTE, you'll have to bump off most off their Military Leaders, and either ask the Political Wing to settle for talks, or an all out assault on the remaining pockets of LTTE.

With all this will it ever die? Can you bury the LTTE or their struggle? I think not. There will be some kid, who's father was killed during the war (althought it might happen to be that the father was a Sucicide Carder) will asert revenge, on his death and so on and on.

On a different view of if Ealam or some form of it, is given to them wil this be resolved. I don't knw. I keep thinking of the "Gaza Strip".

Is there a solution to this prob (in my opinion). I don't know.. there ought to be.. just cant put my finger on it.

PS-Above our my opinions, based on a few war movies, and my knowlegde of the world. he he. I maybe wrong!

One can get away with even the worst atrocities as long as the end is selfless. You just have to tell people it is for the good of the group and not any individual. Look at Hitler and Stalin they were unquestioned in their actions as the ends were supposed to be noble or for the collective good.

Life is never as simple as it seems - sorry. I don't think that anyone not you not me and certainly not anyone living miles away can know what it is to have lived the life of complete degredation and misery that Tamils are subject to in particular in High Security Zones. We now have very distinct patterns of communal based violence in Trinco and Batti and God only knows where this will end.

Chaar-max - I'm afraid bumping people off - whomever they are is not going to stop age old and now institutionalised racism. Racism that has been enshrined in schools, temples and government buildings.

I'm afraid at some point, someone is going to have to start being civilized about the whole thing and start dismantaling the only remaining aparthied system on the planet ... in Sri Lanka.

Get rid of the inequality and we will get rid of all the other shit that comes with it.

hey mate:-)
i am not sure about karma. but this one certainly reaped what he sowed.

good to see you here :-)
actually russians have been having some success in the past 2 years at getting at chechen terrorist leadership. he was not the first.
so hopefully it will allow some kind of moderate non terrorist chechen leaders to rise.
p. is probably more pivotal to ltte.

flames are part of blog life. :-)

chaar~max:
thanks for the commnet:-)
i think there certainly will be lots of infighting if p is bumped off. let us not forget that there were several groups ( some much larger than ltte) at the start . p eliminated them . ltte is to great extent p's own creation. whether it will last and be effective without him is highly doubtful.
it is true that terrorists will never be completely eliminated. what we should aim for is that they will have less and less effect.

insightful comment.
that is why we should expose their real motives and methods.
thanks:-)

formating really need to improve for ppl to understand your comments. :-)

as always care to give details with evidence pl.

only remaining aparthied system on the planet ... in Sri Lanka.
really? care to elaborate how you came to that conclusion?
even if that is true ( it is not in fact) do you think it justify terrorism?
do you dare compare ltte to anc in south africa?

Get rid of the inequality and we will get rid of all the other shit that comes with it.
in other words inequality justify deliberate killing of innocents? is that what you are saying?

child of 25 - no one really reads your shit anymore - there are far more interesting bloggers out there - even if they are not of a the same opinion.
ashanthi it seems you have caught the morquendi's decease of writing silly insults (instead of making coherent arguments) against ppl who comment here. comments like above only expose your own irrationality.
imo childof25's blog is one the most interesting blogs in sl. a glance at it will reveal how wrong your claims are.

I'd just like to call your attention to how a civilian uprising is so easily converted into a civil war and a business venture for a lot of outsiders. Chechniya and since more recently, Iraq are just a couple of examples of how arms dealers have struck agreements with certain "rebel" leaders to continue a vain war, in effect creating a marketplace for their proucts. (These dealers do, of course, deal with the governments as well as the rebels)

We, in Sri Lanka are now facing this same threat. Has it not slowly begun to dawn upon you that perhaps the terrorist problem in Sri Lanka will not be finished following a peace-deal (Let's say an overhaul of the constitution), or even the total annhilation of the LTTE (which is not likely, anyway)? The creation of a seperate state (as unlikely as it is), in my view, would definitely aggregate the situation as well as make us a clear target for arms dealers. (look at Palastine)

he bombs could continue to go off, simply because they are paid up for and someone gets a profit out of it. (Not forgetting that bullets also cost money)

Just some thing to think about...

i am not sure the 'arms dealers' and outsiders have that kind of influence . i am very skeptical about such conspiracy theories.
anyway thanks for expressing your view.:-)

Hey thanks for the compliment s/nut! Though technically its only occasionally a Sri Lankan blog!

Ashanthi - see I'll admit I wind you up sometimes but thats just because I find people like you amusing with your single minded. irrational dislike for people who are not like you. See you accuse me of that but if u check my blog, comments here, moju, etc you will see that I enjoy dialogue.

Dialogue with you is pointless because all you know is bigotry and personal attacks...the latter is not a big deal but the former is sickening. Especially when you spout crap like Sri Lanka is the only apartheid system left in the world and SL doesnt care abot child abuse. You obviously haven't noticed the fact some of the biggest companies in the country are owned by non-Sinhalese, executive boards have muslim, tamil and sinhalese people on them. And thats just the business community.

I don't like calling people stupid because most people including myself make mistakes and say/do silly things sometimes, but your irrationality is scarily consistent, hence you would probably qualify for stupidity. And stop hiding behind the excuse of being a woman and emotional. Thats just insulting to women worldwide.
