disaster ahead! pederast ranil's unp fails to get majority, will ruin country, & fall

in spite of trying through his puppet sirisena to destabilize opposing major party, slfp led upfa, by removing general secretaries and central committee members in the final days of election. ranil's unp utterly failed to secure a simple majority.

it got only 105 seats, and a majority needs 113.

even in that 105, its not all unp. it includes hela urumaya, slfp breakaways loyal to chandrika, slmc and breakaways members, various cwc elements, and few other parties. they may get 1 slmc mp elected independently, and perhaps devananda from epdp. but all these small groups will demand their share of loot. since their primary motive for getting together was to oppose mahinda, some of what they what contradict each other.

he would be tempted by tamil racists of tna, but will explode himself if he gives into any of their demands.

no doubt ranil is counting on puppet and chandrika to get slfp members to defect. and indeed some will. but they will be digging their own political graves, because government wont be able to function or last long even with them.

for in addition to above political reality, there is the economic reality; we are heading for fiscal and balance of payment crises. this stems from 3 main sources,
  • irresponsible budget of the so called yahapalana government,
  • attempt by unp to extort kick backs from from investors through arbitrary illegal stoppage of projects and contracts,
  • incompetent and corrupt government financing resulting in  government borrowing more in 1 six months than whole of last year, (and unlike last year has nothing to show for it).

imf will be called in. but will demand austerity, with welfare and public service cuts. can such a punny government push that through? will ranil go beg chinese to help out, after slandering all the chinese dealing with sri lanka of corruption (and will his western masters allow him)? he is certainly not going to get economic aid or investment from west however slavishly he acts towards them. and india simply can't help.

as an opponent of this piece of human garbage, i would have enjoyed ranil's desperate flailings in next few months, but unfortunately his incompetence will bring disaster on countless innocent sri lankans. that is what some of his foreign backers (especially tamil diaspora) wants, but we don't. but such suffering is inevitable consequence of electing puppet and then letting ranil through backdoor.

hopefully (in fact almost certainly) within a year all this will be played out and we will finally get rid of filthy idiot ranil and his toyboys for good.

corrupt ngo hypocrites of ranil praise sirisena's dictatorial actions

puppet sirisena is trying his best to suppress free expression of sri lankan political opinion through a free and fair election. in order to do that he is tyrannically removing general secretaries of upfa & slfp, and sacking members of slfp central committee wholesale. remember this is done to cripple one of the two major parties during final stages of an election, and to effect the outcome of election by changing national list appointees.

he is of course driven to this by corrupt pederast ranil. who never won, and knows that he will never  win, a free and fair election.

but note how foreign paid ngo scum are praising these blatantly undemocratic actions. these same people opposed defeating of child killing terrorist pussies. for an example, read indi samarajiva,  member of an utterly corrupt political appointee family. typical of the type, he is totally incapable of working for a living, has no qualifications to speak of, has inexplicably lost money on various web projects which he gets others to create at slave wages, and has hung around one ngo after another. (btw in a blatant act of nepotism, after his corrupt political appointee father got him a job at a mobile company, he manged to extort substantial exit money from it after working just 1 year). such people are so rotten in their heads and so short sighted, they cannot even see the obvious facts.

we, sri lankans defeated such scum when they supported tigers, and we will do so again in spite of all their schemes.

as i said day before election, ranil wont be able to form a stable government even with such corruption and illegal dictatorial violence. political and economic realities will catch up with him, and his toyboys, within a year at most. and true opinion of sri lankans will prevail soon enough.

when that happens, let us remember filth like indi, scum who are willing to praise any anti democratic tyrannical corrupt action harmful sri lankans, just as long as they get dollars pushed into their holes. their incompetent lazy ass noses should be rubbed on their own words till they vomit all their ill gotten dollars out.

contrast the choices on offer before voting

here i will give a brief contrast between choices available in tomorrow's voting. decide if i am right or wrong (or omitted anything). then clarify and express your thoughts rationally here(or just in your own mind). then go vote.

practically choice is between a country led by mahinda or by ranil. (sirisena is clearly incapable of leading on his own, has no substantive independent political support, and is only capable of arbitrary actions that can be circumvented).

minor parties
while minor parties a technically choices, voting for them is a vote wasted if our aim is to choose next government. one can vote for such parties for other reasons. for instance, tamil racists can vote for despicable tna, impractical idiots living in past blind to present day realities can vote for jvp, etc.

btw there are no libertarian choices at all, even if i wanted to waste my vote intentionally.

---
main criteria for contrasting mahinda and ranil are,
  • their past records.
  • likely future government they will form

past records
mahinda has an impressive record of delivering what he promised. with few blemishes.
  • terrorists were defeated, peace achieved.
  • economic growth rate reached new sustained highs, debt to gdp percentage was reduced to 70% from close to 100%, foreign reserves reached $9b+, inflation was reduced to low single digits, unprecedented infrastructure development, expansion of tourism, etc.,etc..
  • independent non aligned foreign policy, using china to balance india's intrusions and west's waning hegemony.
  • far from being a dictator as alleged, democracy prevailed to the extant that he allowed conditions for elections that can defeat him, and when defeated, promptly left office. constitutional impeachment of a chief justice. misuse of state media and resources for propaganda.
  • alleged corruption (though not one charge has been proven by new government in-spite of having ample opportunity and usage of extra legal methods of investigation, such as fcid), nepotism.

in contrast ranil's record is one of dismal incompetence. plus all the blemishes that mahinda has.
  • he failed in his dealing with terrorists and some of those dealings were downright traitorous and cost blood of innocents. he still panders to remaining followers of terrorists' racist ideology.
  • wasn't able to make much change in economic growth or debt in previous periods of governing. this year, through an irresponsible budget, he managed to bring down growth and reserves, and increase debt, with nothing whatever to show for any of that. stopping variety of infrastructure developments on flimsy grounds(in order to extort kick backs) with disastrous consequences for economy.
  • slavishly panders to west, and obeys india. with sri lanka getting nothing, absolute zero, in return.
  • has a record of acting dictatorially and illegally, using fine print and loopholes, instead of openly, to retain power in country or in his own party. violation of constitution to remove a chief justice. was implicated in torture camps during 1980s, using dictatorial methods through puppet sirisena to prevent mahinda and party from contesting fairly and freely. use of illegal methods and false investigations to harass political opponents. misuse of state media and resources for propaganda.
  • clearly the mover behind central bank bond scum this year, and related attempted cover ups to protect governor in order stop evidence implicating himself. widespread attempt to extort foreign investors through stoppage of infrastructure developments by his government. nepotism.

likely future governments
now let us contrast the conditions and methods that each will face and use after election if they form a government.

mahinda led upfa has a chance to obtain a clear majority, if free and fair elections were held. in that case sisrisena will be forced to make him prime minister. even if upfa fails to get a clear majority due to dictatorial actions of the ranil's puppet, upfa may get more seats than any other party. in which case even if puppet allows ranil to form a government, and he accepts, it will be extremely unstable(see below) and will fall within a year at most. and mahinda will be made prime minster eventually.

mahinda has shown he can get variety of non upfa mps to support his government and more importantly his polices. though puppet may try to destablize it few years down, it will be stable in mid term. such a stable government will be similar in its polices to mahinda government before january 8, offering economic growth security, and independence (with crony capitalism). terrorists and their racist ideology will be repressed. there would of course be retaliatory prosecution of ranil and supporters. imo such a government was and is a good thing. you are free to differ.

ranil will not get a clear majority. most probably unp led alliance will get 2nd most number of seats (with extremely slight chance of getting more than upfa). in either case, puppet may ask him to form government. which will depend on upfa defections, tamil and muslim racists and extremists, hela urumaya sinhala extremists, jvp marxist extremists, etc., etc..  ranil, in contrast to mahinda, has no record of getting others to follow his polices. government will be unstable and will struggle to pass any legislation. if same irresponsible polices, as present, are continued, economy will be facing great disaster by end of this year. but reversal of such policies (during next budget) will be politically impossible.  government will fall. imo such a government would be bad for country.

contrast between choices available are clear. clarify your thoughts, refute me if possible. then vote rationally.

corrupt ranil behind attempt to subvert election

filthy pederast ranil, who never won a free and fair election, knows through his foreign imported, public funded, illegally privately used, pollsters, that he is heading for another defeat.

so,
with his hands red with blood of sri lankan children sacrificed to tigers in his last attempt to remain in power,
his sick mind craving sadistic pleasures he derived when he personally supervised the tortures during 1980s,
knowing that there is solid evidence to convict him as the primary mover behind central bank bond scum,
etc., etc.,
he is masterminding his puppet dictator sirisena's desperate attempt to repress the will of the sri lankan people during upcoming election.

sirisena's own interests would have been better served by waiting till after the election to undermine mahinda, especially if mahinda led upfa failed to get a clear majority. but ranil convinced him that mahinda led upfa is heading for a solid majority in order to to make him act now.

ranil himself was convinced of his own defeat at least by last monday. he was obviously ill at ease and irritable during media interviews last week (in contrast to relaxed mahinda).  ranil was positively glum during last press conference with his alliance partners.

when ranil's attempt at illegally remaining in power through the help of his puppet is fully defeated (with luck this will happen just after the election, but certainly within a year, after all their schemes, some of which will be unfolded after the election, get unraveled when faced with political and economic realities), sri lankans must remember to be just in handing out retribution. ranil should be the primary focus. and no pity should be shown to him.

postpone election to ensure fairness and freedom

backdoor ranil's puppet dictator sirisena is desperately trying his best to prevent a mahinda led upfa victory by 'sacking' general secretaries of upfa and slfp. this is done to prevent them from appointing polling agents and nominating national list mps after election.

to ensure free and fair elections, election commissioner, should postpone the election till courts definitely rule on legitimacy of dictator's attempt to sack general secretaries of these major parties. it should be postponed to a date after the advanced level exams currently being held.

if this cannot be done,
  • he should ensure that individual candidates have the right to appoint polling agents.
  • not announce the names of national list mps of any party until gen sec issue is resolved in courts.
he should retain his special powers till national list nominees are announced by name, and election is concluded.

෴

ps.
postponing election, by two weeks or so, will have another benefit. unhrc report on alleged war crimes in sri lanka will be released during next week or so. ranil and his puppet fixed election date on 17th (in the middle of exams) mainly to ensure it is over before the release of report, since content is likely to increase support for mahinda. this undemocratic attempt to keep sri lankan voters in ignorance would also be defeated through a postponement.

resistance to ranil/john amaratunga thuggery should be the first shot

all who desire democracy, good governance, rule of law, and stable prosperity, to prevail in sri lanka, needs to support all forms of resistance to lawless, irresponsible, thuggery, that is being imposed on sri lanka, by filthy pederast ranil's backdoor government.

of the many many acts they have perpetrated against "yaha palanaya", they hypocritically proclaimed, and their paid propagandists, online and off,  spread,  some of which i have commented on in this blog, i will mention a few thematic ones,
  • gross violation of constitution in removing chief justice mohan peiris, accompanied with physical threats against him and family, made by ranil himself and his fellow thug asad sally.
  • totally irresponsible and ignorant budget. which has resulted in a continuing stock market crash, and would have resulted in a rupee crash, if not for furious selling of dollar reserves built up by mahinda, and threats to currency brokers, by central bank. how long the rupee can be protected by such means is a question.
  • the widespread daily acts of physical violence, and absurd slanders, against opposition and members of previous government. with threats to media & officials that cover the violence and question the slanders.
  • the irresponsible surrender of our foreign policy, and sri lankan interests, to india and west, purely because these supported private interests of the ranil gang in the regime change, and now say nice things about the new regime, while deliberately preferring to cover their eyes to its violent illegal undemocratic actions. in the process, they are alienating china, whose interests and ours coincide to a large degree, and unlike india and west, is willing to go beyond mere words, and pay for our support.
due to all these, and more. sri lankans should start active resistance to the ranil's backdoor regime.

the incident of thuggery directly involving john amaratunga, minister of public peace, disaster management and christian religious affairs, is a good example of multiple failings of this new regime. as such it should be used as a good starting point for active resistance.

last friday(30th), he was present, and is on record encouraging his henchmen, to invade a sitting session of the wattala pradeshiya sabha (a local council controlled by upfa in his electorate), and then physically assault chairman thyagaratna alwis, and members with iron rods.

no arrests were made in spite of video evidence. if puppet sirisena continues to be a toyboy in the hands of pedrast ranil, and fails to remove amaratunga from his cabinet post, that involves oversight of police, a no confidence motion should be presented in parliament, and a non stop protest campaign should be undertaken until he is removed.

we must keep in mind that backdoor government, though its trying to project an image of strength through media, is in fact weak, especially among public in south, and even votes maithree (not ranil) got in north, were merely votes against mahinda, rather than for anything positive. a resistance campaign, will have more than enough public support once it gets going, led by resolute leaders, whose aim is removal of backdoor regime.

so the question is whether official opposition leadership, made up of people like nimal siripala de silva, has the brains and guts to mount such a campaign, or at least let others in opposition, people who have demonstrated courage in face of relentless attacks from backdoor gov, have a free hand to lead one. we will soon know. if they, nimal & co, fail, they should be replaced with people who do have what it takes to face down the backdoor government. and chase away ranil's thugs to face retribution, unprotected by laws they have intentionally desecrated.

yaha palanaya = irresponsible budget

it seems ranil's backdoor government thinks yaha palanaya means irresponsibility.

its so called mini budget is proof of this. basically it is
  • lots of reduced(controlled) prices and giveaways,
  • lots of taxes on profit making businesses, especially in growth sectors like telecoms, media, and banks, & alleged wealthy. in other words taxing those who make an economy a sustainable success.
  • lots of one-off taxes (this is very definition of irresponsible budgeting).
  • and lots of absurd slanders against former government (as in saying 7b usd was lost from losing gsp+ ?!).
some of this is illusion. for instance 25% tax on mobile reloads is removed, but with one time tax of rs 250m  imposed on mobile operators, result eventually will be nil, and paid by consumers. and 5b to be gained by container scanning from september? lol. if there are importers who getaway without paying duties by non declaring actual goods in containers, they will be smart enough to change their tactics by september.

ranil's unp, contrary to delusions held by some of its supporters, is not for free market capitalism or liberal democracy. in fact if you look at its propaganda, while it still hypocritically spouts about democracy and good governance, it has long given up free market capitalism, even as propaganda.

in opposition to all slanders, vomited during this budget presentation, and during last election and since, here are some undeniable facts about mahinda's economic management,
  • reduced national debt as percentage of gdp from over 100% in 2004 to around 70%. this in spite of massive infrastructure development(through loans) and war.
  • reduced inflation to lower single digits, mainly by steadily reducing budget deficits.
  • steady increase in inward remittances and investments, to the point of running a current account surplus. steady reduction in trade deficit. resulting in sri lankan foreign reserves increasing close to 10b usd.
  • doing away with lots of controls and regulations.
  • main irresponsible thing he did was the expansion of government workforce and its pay. this fault continued in this budget by his slanderers.
this sort of irresponsible budget by ranil, will ruin all the good mahinda did. following can be safely predicted.
  • inflation will rise during latter part of year.
  • either shortages(+black markets) of those reduced price items, or more likely non enforcement of those reduced prices outside of sathosa after election.
  • drop in investment, probably a halt to increase in inward remittances.
  • depreciation of rupee, or if central bank fruitlessly resists that, a drop in foreign reserves. thus throwing away the opportunity given by low oil prices, to increase current account surplus, reduce trade deficit, and increase reserves.
  • a very different budget for next year, if a prudent government is in power, or totally unnecessary economic ruin in 2016, if government (whoever gets elected) remain irresponsible like this.

all this was unnecessary. these giveaways are not going to have much effect on beneficiary voters in post april election. while those who suffer directly from it will be too few to change the result. unless ill consequences of budget are felt earlier than i anticipate, this budget will have not much effect on election. it will be decided on other matters.

those who endorse removal of cj mohan peiris are beyond law and its protections

removal of chief justice mohan peiris, was carried out by giving unconstitutional power to executive to be legislative and judiciary as well.

sirisena, under orders from ranil's backdoor government, interpreted law & passed a sentence like a court (but unlike a real court, did not hear from both sides), when he claimed that chief justice mohan peiris's appointment was "bad in law".

he is, blatantly assuming power to institute a court, lay down its procedure (one which violates rights guaranteed in constitution), to pass (or assume existence of) laws and to interpret them at will.

under constitution chief justice can be removed only through an impeachment in parliament. and if there is some fault in procedure of his appointment, that can be determined only by courts (and under rights guaranteed in constitution), after hearing from all sides.

those who have endorsed removal of chief justice mohan peiris,
  • are willfully endorsing fundamental violations of constitution.
  • they endorse degrading both spirit and letter of law. (unlike mahinda, and other previous presidents of sri lanka, who may, in some cases, have acted against spirit of law, but not against its letter.)
  • endorse giving power of executive, legislative, and judiciary to a single person, against all principles of human rights, democracy, and good governance.
  • denying existence of rule of law in sri lanka, they endorse rule of one man to make and break laws at will.
  • they are denying us, sri lankans, the right to be ruled by our legitimate democratic republic form of government.
endorsers of this criminal activity, be they parliamentarians, judges, bureaucrats, media, bloggers, or just individuals, are placing themselves beyond law by their actions. as such must face the consequences. they must expect to be denied protection of laws and rights guaranteed under the constitution they violate.

when sri lanka reestablish and reenforce the democratic constitution, as it will, soon enough, given its long tradition of democracy. these people who have willfully placed themselves beyond its protection can (imo should) be denied all lawful protections of a constitution they deliberately violated. pleas, if any, from their foreign backers, who now fail to condemn this undemocratic and illegitimate removal of chief justice, should be ignored.

we must remember and keep the evidence of their criminality, because, from now on, imo, we, sri lankans, who are violated by these outlaws, are, completely free to unleash and support the violent fury of inevitable consequences on them. let them eat their own shit! literally.

removing chief justice mohan peiris without due process amount to a coup

ranil's backdoor government's alleged removal of mohan peiris as chief justice without due precess prescribed in constitution, amount to a coup.

as such all citizens of sri lanka are free to resist the illegal coup government with whatever means available. traitors who take power through such illegal and violent means can be resisted. even use of violence in such resistance is legal.

resistance begins!

yaha palanaya! a backdoor government established in uva

newly established "good governance" government, keeps on redefining those terms.

unp's harin fernando, who barely got 40% of vote in recent uva provincial elections, showing utter contempt for people's wishes, has weaseled his way into chief minister's office through backroom maneuvering, ousting upfa government of shamindra rajapakse, who go 51%+.

all this with active support and blessings of ranil's backdoor government in colombo.

btw, shamindra's vote share was same as maithree's, while harin got much less than mahinda's 48%-. same mahinda, slandered as a power mad dictator, who in fact bowed to people's wishes and left office, while harin who was one of those slanderers, now shows his true nature.

who is behaving democratically here?

who conducted free and fair elections? who respected people's wishes? who respected freedom of expression? who respected due process?

everyone can see, what is what (except unthinking, ignorant, idiotic, propagandists of ranil, online or off) as each day passes.

yaha palanaya! political thug upul jayasuriya threatens chief justice

so much for rule of law, and due process, promised by the new government!

today, president of bar association of sri lanka (basl), upul jayasuriya, and his henchmen, are openly threatening chief justice of sri lanka, mohan peiris, to make him resign, with encouragement from ranil's backdoor government.

this comes soon after ranil's gov, threatened to illegally prosecute those exercising right to freedom of expression.

corrupt thug jayasuriya, who got elected as basl president through violence, seemingly ignorant of constitutional law, claimed that "the association has unanimously decided to re-elect impeached dr. shirani bandaranayake for the cj post."

bar association, which is far from unanimity on anything, does not elect justices of supreme court, with good reason. president of the country appoints them when there is a vacancy. justices can only be removed through impeachment.

bandaranayake was removed through an impeachment, due to to her corruption. charges against her were originally made by ranil's close associates in unp, such as harsha de silva. new president, maithrepala sirisena, and probably a majority of soon to be appointed cabinet, voted for the impeachment.

ranil's primary real objection to current cj, is probably his constitutional ruling on land and police powers of provincial councils. ranil having some understanding with racist tna to give tna run northern provincial council more power in return for their support in election, has to get rid of cj and this ruling.

if ranil and his fixers, want the chief justice removed, they should impeach him and follow the due process of law. but since there is no credible allegations of any corruption against current cj, they have no case. hence the use of filthy tool jayasuriya.

it should be noted that american embassy has been indirectly subsidizing basl, after jayasuriya came in to office, by renting from basl, premises for united states agency for international development (usaid), a controversial agency accused world over for subverting governments. usaid in sri lanka was barely budgeted $15mil for 2014, and most of it was spent to pay foreign staff here and these premises.

but quite apart from what looks like dangerous foreign interference in sri lankan courts, and despicable back room maneuvering by deviant ranil, one thing is certain.

rule of the law is in the process of being violated by these ranil sanctioned threats by jayasuriya. and all who love good governance should condemn them.

yaha palanaya! new government tries to illegally suppress news from north

instead of letting media full freedom to report, so that truth or falseness can be independently verified, or instead of arresting, if illegal, the anti police/military stones throwing, tiger flag hoisting, ltte supporting racist scum in jaffna, ranil's back door government is using every resource of state to suppress and censor news from north.

even to the point of threatening prosecution of those who report the news.

under what law? in fact, since mahinda removed emergency laws, there is no law under which such a threatened persecution could be conducted, even if the news is false. (news is in fact true).

this very illegal panic response only confirm the truth of these incidents even to skeptics, and inflate their significance. when in fact, incidents in themselves, carried out by few idiotic tamil racists, were of little importance.

so much for yaha palanaya, freedom of information, good governance, etc, etc.

election day : will upfa get a 2/3 majority?

its election day. only question in doubt is the is size of united people freedom alliance's majority in parliament.

imo they will probably not get 150 seats out of 225 directly, but will come close. they will certainly reach two thirds majority within months if not days, with help of small parties and defections.

if they don't get 2/3 straight away that is mainly due to modified proportional representative electoral system in place here (ppl vote for lists from parties and independent groups in 22 districts to elect 196 members of parliament and further 29 are elected through the national list). if the first past the post system prevailing in most countries (such as uk and usa) was in effect here, upfa will get something like 7/8th majority.

(btw before the next island wide election the number of mps from north and east provinces needs to be reduced, to be in line with actual population. at present, bc no census was carried out during terrorist oppression there, the seats allocated to the two provinces are the same as in 80s. population there is now much less due to exodus of ppl escaping terrorist oppression and resulting violence, as well as economic collapse. population in other provinces have increased due to the influx due to relative stability and economic growth. equal weight to all votes must be ensured in future)

should upfa get 2/3?
i do not agree with upfa's left of center ideology. yes they are not ideologues and tend to be down to earth practical ppl. that is why i am not in despair about their coming power.

there is also some justice in ppl who defeated terrorists murderers having the first go at direction of affairs during peace.

there is also this fact, there is no alternative to upfa.

two main so called alternatives are both unpalatable to me, and what is more important to most sri lankans.

united national party that has not repented its pro appeasement of terrorists policy cannot be given power. it has to publicly dump that policy and leaders who supported it, if it is ever to have chance at power.

unp leadership seems to be totally unconnected with sri lakans at large and only have ears for the that fringe of sri lankan society; the english speaking (or rather english thinking) pseudo elite in colombo with their narrow minds and tiny western liberal frames of reference. (it is not their preference for english that is wrong btw rather their whole mindset).

instead of espousing independent foreign policy its leaders have kowtowed to western leaders and even called for foreign intervention.

in addition it has not stood up for smaller government, civil liberties, economic liberalization, and free and open markets as it should. by not doing so they are setting themselves for future defeats, bc they will not be in a position to offer a coherent and credible alternatives when upfa government will falter, as it will.

to cap it, all unp candidate have reportedly (and unp general secretary is on video record) submitted undated letters of resignation from parliament to unp leader (to allow him to blackmail and control them). that is, they are willing to spit on the votes they get, to kiss ranil wickremasinghe's well used bottom. i don't think anyone who talks about good governance can vote for any unp candidate after that. but fools will, due to party loyalty and ignorance.

once terrorist jvp will not win many seats. the marxist idiots are now well on the way to obscurity and insignificance, on the same footsteps as old marxist parties. accused criminal sarath fonseka has lost his whatever appeal he once had (though he will get elected). a man who stores hundreds of thousands of dollars of unaccounted and unsourced money in his fugitive son in law's mother's safe deposit box is not a person to trust. (btw it is telling how his supporters (including online ones like now jobless indi padashow samarajiva) are completely silent on this uncontested fact. may be they were paid with some of the money for the presidential election propaganda)

anyway given the choices there will be no hesitation on most sri lankans' mind as to where to place the x today.

stance about military defeat of ltte terrorists should and would define politics for a generation

indi padashow samarajiva before he got a job as part of a backfired akon publicity stunt and devoted his blog for that, wrote "i really hope that the war isn’t, like, our vietnam. as in, something that defines and defines politics forever. ..."

so typical of the clueless one to take another false analogy from history of usa. before the tamil tiger murderers got defeated he was repeatedly saying that sri lanka will not defeat the terrorists through military means and sri lanka government was only conquering territory, comparing fight against terrorists here to american efforts in iraq(which he thought was failing) and vietnam.

he stuck to it when it was pointed out by me (before he started censoring me) that many countries, ranging from indonesia to peru to turkey to algeria, have in fact successfully defeated terrorists and guerrillas (only difference from groups defeated in those countries; ltte was larger and more vile).

this happened several times in indi.ca and other blogs. search there.

likes of indi padashow (lot of them in kottu cocoon) seem to be stuck in a box with only american frame of references. (or more correctly liberal american frame of references); resulting in a narrow minded and uneducated worldview.

if anyone want to compare the military defeat of ltte to anything in american history, it should be to american civil war (1861-1865). even there the analogy fails. south aka confederate states of america, in that war was more than a mere armed criminal gang as ltte was.

[btw did you know what indi padashow and ilk know but fail to mention in their american analogies while criticizing present sri lankan government? that during civil war abraham lincoln suspended habeas corpus, imprisoned thousands of ppl for suspicion without trial, violated constitution when he spent money as he wanted against the wishes of congress, etc. etc. i think i will keep that unmentioned comparison to another post]

anyway back to the topic.

should various stands about militarily defeating ltte terrorists define sri lankan politics for another generation?

yes.

why?
quite simply, bc politicians' stances reveal their character.

anyone who opposed military defeat of ltte bc they thought it cannot be done, displayed a lack of judgment and proved themselves unpragmatic dreamers. should voters consider that? yes.

anyone who preferred appeasement of terrorists to defeating them were worse. they chose an immoral course of action, they preferred to sacrifice rights, justice, freedom, democracy, and even lives, of sri lankans for a unsustainable 'peace'. should voters consider that? you bet!

unrepentant ppl in above to two categories should not be (and imo would not be) allowed to hold real power in sri lanka.

however opposite is not true. ppl who believed and even contributed to defeating terrorists shouldn't and wouldn't necessarily get real power automatically. that depends on other matters. a misconception about this point is what led some clueless idiots (and some foreign reporters too lazy to think and find out truth) to propagate the myth that those who appreciate victory over terrorist (racists termed these 'sinhalese') will split their votes more or less equally between mahinda rajapaksa and sarath foneska. election results vindicated my refutation of this myth.

iow a politician's stand on military defeat of terrorists is a basic qualification of entry. if you did not support it and is still unrepentant you have no chance, but supporting it does not mean you will get the job. imo this will be true for a generation.

of course even politicians without that qualification will get elected (esp due to probational representation) but they will not get real power. ppl who openly repent their opposition to military defeat of ltte may get through to real power, though their earlier stand will always be a rightful part of their opponents' arsenal.

to give a concrete example. present ranil wickremasinghe led unp leadership will not get real power. second or third tier of unp (say sajith premadasa) do have a chance once they can get rid of present leadership and publicly and officially renounce unp's peacenik stance.

to conclude, if you want a successful career in sri lankan politics in the next 20-30 years make sure to check you were in the right side about defeating terrorists.

too bad (or i should say too good) that former political appointee rohan samarajiva's patrons are in the wrong side and are unrepentant. no wonder his son, who is still living off his parents, don't want this issue to define politics.

told you so! summary of my election posts

mahinda rajapaksa's massive election victory was long foretold by this blog and anyone else who is living in real sri lanka (including few other bloggers).

most kottu cocoon blogs chose to live in sf fantasy or run away from all reality, responsibility, and voting, (what a surprise huh?). though no longer dominant as they once were in sl blogosphere, such blogs still occupy a lot of space there.

anyway while sore loser sarath fonseka and his minions are turning themselves in to clowns ( by among other things, going in and out of hotels freely while claiming they are under 'seige') for the benefit of unrepentant terrorist supporters and foreign racists who never miss even an half an opportunity to denigrate sri lanka and its vigorous democracy [update stormcrow has written an excellent post about after election shenanigans now going on. read it], i thought i will write one smug post boasting about my election posts.

btw don't depend on summary or quotes too much, they tend to be lengthy for a reason. please read the posts in full if interested .

here they are ,

sarath fonseka fantasy of unp and real reasons behind it

'politics in sri lanka, real story'
why ranil wickremasinghe for 'very short term and very selfish reasons' wants fonseka to run, 'general should wait and position himself both within upfa and outside instead of falling for the trap.' 'running against a ... popular incumbent ..., with no control over ones' own campaign, losing, and ruining his chances forever'

november 08 2009
sarath fonseka's biggest political problem

his supporters; 'active appeasers and/or supporters of the tamil tiger terrorist pussies'
'if general tries to win elections with support of ppl like those he will deserve derision and will lose'.

december 06 2009
degenerate bloodless shell of unp

' for what does unp stand for?' 'can no longer be considered a center right party','drifting without ideas or a vision'.
'function purely as a political vehicle for its leader'
'bad for the country, upfa or its leader will not face any credible check on its/his power'
'to revive the beast more direct and drastic action is needed'. 'get rid of ranil, ...stand for something that public wants'.

january 2, 2010
biggest problem facing sri lanka - sms spam

'kottu cocoon has decided that biggest problem facing sri lanka is sms spam' lol
'some questions and answers to clarify things.'

january 9, 2010
who to vote for? a guide

'we have to decide between individuals who make promises to act according to a package of policies.'
'how to evaluate a package of policies.'
'by giving a big margin of victory for mahinda rajapaksa, sri lankans will send a clear message of unacceptability of anyone who welcomes and works to further, the agendas of unrepentant peaceniks and terrorists supporters.'
opposition 'will have nothing to build on after fonseka's inevitable defeat.'

january 13, 2010
massive mahinda victory to close election? how sunday leader columnist indi.padashow twisted election projection

by who, for what and why, about an election projection published by clueless cocooned sarath propagandist indi.padashow.
detailed 'look at data' and 'manipulations'
'it is safe to say even numbers of sarath foneska's devoted supporter indi.padashow, stripped of obvious manipulations, indicate that sf is in for a trashing'

january 15, 2010
sarath fonseka the man - vicious, vindictive, control freak

'voters should ... look at the character of persons offering to hold the highest and most powerful job'
'we don't know much about sarath foneska, but following videos will help'
'they are real people with names and histories. they have also sought redress from courts. iow, they are not mere allegations'
'personality traits .... not be all that good in a president of a democratic country, where ppl are and should be allowed to act freely, and must be persuaded rather than be commanded'

january 24, 2010
election myths - 'sinhala' votes will split, 'tamil' votes will decide

'we will examine this claim closely, and show it to be a result of pure imagination with no basis in reality; a myth. in fact a racist myth..'
'who is making this claim'?
'due to all these reasons, and contrary to above myth, mahinda will win, by a big margin. my prediction as before. '

january 26, 2010, election day

today the good will unite to defeat the evil; vote and contribute
'evil men have combined in an unholy alliance, will the good unite to defeat them? imo they will. resoundingly'
'election results should and would make it clear that anyone who belong to, or accepts the support of, unrepentant evil doers, peacenik appeasers, or cowardly do nothings, will not be tolerated by sri lankans in position of political power.'

hypocrisy of indi.padashow's election spam and 'illegal' campaigning for sarath fonseka
'indi of indi.ca and padashow blogs ... is presently sitting in unp office and spewing out pro sarath fonseka propaganda'
'hypocritical indignation'. 'spreading unsubstantiated dangerous irresponsible rumors '
'perhaps he was ordered by his bosses to use online propaganda to start creating the impression that election was rigged; always the default position of losers in sri lanka '

sarath fonseka still not voted! why?
'with only 1 1/2 hours to go, it seems sarath fonseka has not yet voted. why? is he not registered to vote?'
'why this secrecy and non transparency?'
'if he is not registered he is cheating the voters! he is concealing facts .'

questions to be asked from sarath fonseka & supporting media about non voting, non registration, and non transparency
'when did he know he was not eligible to vote? why did he not disclose teh fact publicly as soon as he knew? what did he do in southern provincial council elections held in october 2009?'
'the lame excuse ... about postal vote getting canceled is not valid.' 'claim ... to have gone to a polling station is not substantiated'
'journalists who were giving excuses ... must disclose when they knew ... and why there was a delay ... in publishing it ?'

western province provincial council election results online

update 2
given the traffic i am getting for this page i thought that i should update a table of results periodically, so that visitors can have results at one glance instead of going through pages in election department website.
the table is posted in my next post and will be updated periodically.

update 3-
preference votes
continuing work from above, i am posting elected candadates and their preference votes in a separate post today 04/27/2009

--
since i get lot of visitors searching for election results every time an election is held in sri lanka (and sometimes even when the election is in a foreign country) due to my previous election posts, as usual i am giving the link where ppl can actually find election results for western province election results online .

ultimate source is department of elections. when results come they publish online and other media get their official results from there. most of the polling division results will be out before tomorrow morning. preference votes will be counted starting tomorrow

(btw other media has more or less given up publishing so called "unofficial results" these days. these usually were results gathered from counting centers just after they were communicated to election commissioner but before the commissioner has certified them; an advantage of few minutes.)

who will win ?
does anyone needs to ask? upfa with their current popularity will win.

better question is which candidates will get the preference votes to get elected. will corrupt political thugs like duminda silva, shiral lakthilaka (indi.padashow's squeeze these days, and like his previous ones mervyn silva, mangala samaraweera etc. anyone supported by indi is a peacenik thug) and others like them win?

duminda silva probably ( he actually got most votes last time when he was ranil's favorite, but probably will not be 1st this time, though one can never tell). shiral lakthilaka is more dicey; indi will no doubt be excitedly checking preference results tomorrow afternoon to see whether his ... man squeezed in from the bottom, of the list of elected.

in any case, both if elected, will live off taxpayers doing nothing (except for the kickbacks to their corrupt supporters).
෴
update
this election was almost completely peaceful. so much so that i forgot to comment on it above. quite a contrast to a decade or so ago when we almost always had a curfew imposed after the polling, usually lasting throughout next day.

lasantha wickramatunga- a dirty politician pretending to be a journalist, murdered

lasantha wickramatunga was murdered yesterday.

did he deserve to die? of course not.

nor did countless innocents, military personnel, politicians, and others that were killed by ltte terrorist pussies deserve to die.

(btw it is too early to jump to conclusions as to who killed wickramatunga as some ppl are doing according to one absurd conspiracy theory or other)

but all the anti government/peacenik/terrorist parroting blogs (these blogs do not necessarily fall into all the categories mentioned, but some do and in most cases differences between them are academic) are in a hysterical mood as if a great man has died. (for instance just look at posts and comments at indi.ca run by the same corrupt individual who also ran padahow.wordpress).
in contrast, these blogs hardly make a move in response to the latest terrorist atrocity . and if they do, express flippant (with such literary devices like puns, expletives, etc ) posts expressing merest token sympathy (for instance again look at posts and comments at indi.ca ...).

anyway was wickramatunga a great man? hmmmmm ... i will just say that late minister lakshman kadirgamar was a great man.

hysterical ones may object "wickramatunga was a journalist! journalists are sacred and protectors of our freedoms!"
hmmmmm ...

but let us forget for a moment dubious validity of this statement about journalists (esp when applied to a certain type of journalist peculiar to sri lankan english language newspapers catering to colombo's cocooned pseudo elite; who are, for instance, deeply concerned about their right to travel on roads unhindered by road blocks)

was wickramatunga a journalist?
he did publish some newspapers, and edited them, and wrote in them.
but he was more than that. he was political player. he was close friend and collaborator of politicians (esp of ranil wickremasinghe though not exclusively. btw i cannot confirm the widespread rumor that he was once a lover of ranil). he engineered (or tried to engineer) political coups.

he did not hesitate to use blackmail to achieve his ends. does anyone forget the incident involving rauf hakeem and certain lady. while hakeem again became a political friend of wickramatunga, fate of lady concerned who has outlived her usefulness to both hakeem and wickramatunga was terrible). newspapers were just one of wickramatunga's instruments of political manipulation nothing more.

he was in other words, a politician, of the worst kind (only difference was that he did not ask for the vote directly)
( i repeat, all that does not mean he deserved to get killed, i am just stating the facts )

anyway this is how i am feeling at his death; a dirty politician was killed. nothing more.
maybe even less. some of the murdered politicians like jeyaraj fernandopulle after all did some good (while benefiting from corruption of course) while this person has nothing at all to show.

do you feel more ? too bad.

෴

ps
hysterical peaceniki readers who may want to comment on my attitude, may want to remember how they reacted to indi.ca's post after jeyaraj' fernandopulle's murder or ravana's post after d.m. dassanayaka's murder to take two examples.
