what to blog about in a peaceful prospering sri lanka?

country is getting positively boring.

that is a good thing.

if you are not a political blogger.

living in such a country is great if you are a family man or an unmarried one; if you are trying to make money or just want to be lazy. it is definitely the place to be if you want to enjoy life, or be miserable by choice.

i am thankful it is like that, now.

and we, sri lankans, will keep it that way.

but what to write?

be more personal and less political? but i cringe when people indecently expose their own diaries to public as blogs.

write about foreign stuff and my reactions to art and techs? and my thoughts on philosophy and religion? maybe. iow, be boring? maybe.

while i have no sympathy for gaddafi, only looters and their paid slaves can think all this a success and welcome it.

arab spring, fantasy?

same ppl welcomed the end of egypt's dictator mubarak. not surprising how they are silent on the fact that democracy is nowhere in sight in egypt, now ruled by a shacky and intolerant military junta subservient to west just like mubarak. (since this is a sri lankan blog i refer esp to born/paid slaveboy sri lankan blogs like indi.ca, groundviews, etc. always ready to parrot western narrative/pov without a shred of independent thought). i have already written about the possible outcomes in egypt. i am still of same opinions.

slaveboys are also silent on west's hypocritical silence and non action in bahrain where the tyrant massacred and imprisoned peaceful (in contrast to libya's armed and violent) protesters. i suspect the fact that tyrant in bahrain allows free oil looting to west, and permanently hosts american fifth fleet has lot to do with it.

but to return to libya.

west (and others, even sri lanka) courted bloody dictator gaddafi up to last year. but it is mainly west (esp. uk and france) that succeeded in getting deals from him. remember all those western engineers etc., peacefully allowed to evacuate when fighting started. in 2009, britain went so far as to release the libyan terrorist who bombed an airliner over lockerbie killing hundreds in a 'blood for oil' deal. (btw i and many others opposed it at the time. slaveboys were silent.) several wikileaks documents have confirmed what we said. wikileaks and normal news confirmed that british ministers, (including prime ministers and royals), american senators, etc, were regular visitors of crazy dictator gaddafi, gaddafi was invited to g8 summit as an observer and praised, english education institutions gave degrees to gaddafi's son, et., etc.

i said what i think of west's possible intervention in libya even before they started. as always i have no reason to change my mind.

west's intervention in libya is a classic case of west exploiting quarrels among natives to make looting of assets easier. ruling scum of genocidal british empire would be proud that their modes of operations are still followed by their progeny. only i doubt whether they will succeed. look what happened after the "successful" invasion and installation of puppets in afghanistan. i think employees of western companies in libya will find looting hard if they are also targets. rightly so!

in any case, all of us would be right in not being overjoyed and not welcoming this news.

criminal pols and their hypocritical online hacks

i am loling @ the self righteous pontifications of a certain blogger about duminda silva, gun fights, and criminal politicians, etc..

i mean how did this person, his suckerboys, and family members, forget that they worked, works, and will work for, same sort of criminal pols. just two weeks ago same blogger ran an extremely dirty politician's facebook page.

did you guess who i am referring to? good! lol.

(btw support of this blogger is a sure sign of defeat for pols he supports. check history).

where i stand

as i have said before here, only way to cure the political system of corruption (and attendant criminality) here or anywhere in the world (most of world is no better than here, west just conceal it it better), is to reduce the power of politicians/state over other ppls' assets/freedoms; be it by cutting government spending/welfare, removing regulations and pols' control over regulations, etc., etc.,

i will support such a libertarian program. in the absence of one from any electable politician, my support or opposition, for pols or parties, will depend on other considerations; ref my voting guide for last presidential election.

i will continue to laugh at ppl who pontificate on criminality and corruption of some criminal politicians while working for others. lol.

my online name 'sittingnut' predates this blog by more than a decade. i have forgotten the exact birth date somewhere in early 90s. one can still find some of its early outings scattered over the internet.

while name intentionally means and hints at several things, it is actually made out of names of sioux leaders 'sitting bull' and 'crazy horse'.

i have been neglecting the blog. bad! resolved to reform, again.

in the meantime, i am posting one of my favorite songs i have neglected by not listening; tanita tikaram's twist in my sobriety.

as with greater part of my favorites it is from 80s; from her 1988 album, ancient heart. great music video too.

a side effect of the ability maintain a huge portable selection of music is that if we forget to include an old fav, we may not realize the fact for some time. bc, while we try to listen to new music outside the selection, reasonably enough, we do not feel the need to listen to old ones outside.

on sri lanka's response to so called un panel report

those who were trying to force an unjust 'international' (read 'western approved to produce results west want') inquiry on to sri lanka hoped that prejudiced claims made in illegitimately constituted so called un/darusman panel will help their cause.

what they hoped
western racists hoped they will keep sri lanka under their thumb (as in the days of genocidal british empire) by removing and pressuring sri lankans who preferred a truly independent foreign policy, instead of one that aimed to suck up to west regardless of our interests.

racist supporters of tamil tiger terrorist murderers hoped they will get 'revenge' for justly ignominious death of the their sun god/big pussy prabhakaran and his zombies. they also hoped for more propaganda to gather funds in west so they can again kill our children.

willing slaves of west and tigers, working for ngos, hoped they will get more funds for doing west's work.

month later
almost a month after initial leaks (timed at sri lanakn news year holidays to delay sri lankan response, and thus dominate the news by one sided anti sri lanka coverage for few days) the picture is very different. world finds sri lanka almost completely united against the report and its denial of justice and equality to sri lanka.

apart from racists in foreign countries, only the above mentioned western funded slaves have spoken in favor of it. and they have bared their bias, hypocrisy, and disregard for truth, by running away from addressing the issues that sri lankans really object to.

all rest of sri lankans have shown, in no uncertain terms, that they oppose the report and its aims. they have organized marches, gathered signatures by the millions, written prose and poetry, etc., etc., objecting to it. newspapers here are overwhelmed by ppl sending open letters addressed to u.n. sectary general ban ki moon objecting to report, panel, and his conduct.

as a result, western funded slaves, at groundviews and other such places, are in incoherent confusion by their own admission. so in addition to censoring almost all objections to panel and report as usual, they resort to conspiracy theories, for eg. one involving forcing millions to sign petitions, [lol!]; instead of observing that signatures are gathered in public places (and videoed to boot) they prefer absurd claims of the tiger's pet propaganda paper (btw remember how groundviews founder sanjana hattotuwa had to delete its predecessor moju when its accumulation of uncritical re-posts of ltte propaganda became a source of embarrassment). as usual they censor anyone who point to absurdities of this and other conspiracy theories.

how to oppose
in fact, the main discussion in sri lanka is not on whether to support or oppose the panel report, but on how to oppose it; whether to reject it outright, or oppose it in detail.

imo, we should do both, and we can, whatever some ppl say. sri lanka while rejecting the report as a whole, should also point out the injustice, illegality, and errors/sloppiness, in its origin, process of creation, and in its content, in detail. there is no reason to confine the response to one of these.

forthcoming official response seems to be such a comprehensive refutation, and accumulation of many many private responses from individuals is creating another such comprehensive refutation. already lots of errors and even blatantly false references (eg report claims X and supports it by referring to Y, when in fact Y is not about X) have been found in report through private initiative. all this is good.

fight continues
anyway while response is heartening to all who prefer peace, justice, human rights, and democracy, in sri lanka, we must no forget that some of the aims of those who welcomed this report have been achieved, though not completely; there is still pressure on sri lanka to obey the west, tiger supporters still gather funds using false claims, and ngo slaves still get some funds to attack us.

it is by continually defeating their attempts to achieve these aims, that we can reduce them to almost nothing. that is why we should show similar united opposition to their attempts, big and small, at harming us. as with the panel report, by sticking to facts and reason, and aggressively exposing hypocrisy, racism, and lies, we will overcome.

american 'heroism'!

note - as i have said before, i fully approve killing of mass murderer osama bin laden. but this is not about that.

we were told, that after an elaborate decision making process; under the supervision of barack obama; excellent specimens of america's professional military and intelligence, secretly entered pakistan armed with latest military hardware and best intelligence; attacked a security compound/luxury mansion of osama bin laden; heroically fought and killed 2 of his guards; killed ak-47 wielding osama, who used his wife as a human shield; avoided another 'black hawks down' by destroying their own shot at helicopter, and got back to safety with body and computer hard drives etc..

how 'heroic', 'professional' and even 'civilized'!
george washington would be proud!

hmmm... wonder what old george would say to reality that is emerging through the hypocrisy and lies.

it seems that obambi ordered a group of testosterone injected american thugs, known as navy seals, armed with the overwhelming firepower and armor, to follow a few sneaky cia spies. these then, invaded pakistan (definitely committing a war crime in the process); entered an unguarded dirty house with lots of cows and goats; killed 2 unarmed men and a woman (or 3 unarmed men); shot another woman who was not a human shield in leg; traumatized some very young children; executed osama after he surrendered; panicked when yet another shoddy specimen of american industry, a helicopter broke down without anyone even kicking it; crowded into other helicopter in fear and ran away without taking surviving osama family as planned.

these sort of lies to bolster, non existent professionalism and heroism, and hide, very real cowardice and brutality, of western military forces are nothing new. among many more, we had the jessica lynch incident during invasion of iraq, and we had numerous cases of westerners killing every non westerner on sight whenever they heard a bomb go off or shot fired in iraq, bombing on alleged targets in civilian neighborhoods from 35,000 ft in the air in afghanistan, serbia and now libya, etc..

in contrast, we, sri lankans, were told by the same west that we were not only unheroic but criminal to fight and defeat (even with our minimal resources) against a well armed (through funds collected in west ) tamil tiger murderers and suicide bombers led by big pussy velupillai prabhakaran. west wanted us to appease the tigers and submit to daily killing and maiming of our children. (you see, we are subhumans; we unlike west after 9/11 don't need to resist monthly equivalents in colombo and elsewhere.) even now we are told, by westerns tools (like united nations, amnesty international , human rights watch , etc, who are yet to seriously criticize or investigate western military actions) that alleged deaths, among very real human shields used by tamil tigers, from accidents, and even of tiger leaders, amount to war crimes on our part. our concerns are never addressed and we are denied just and equal treatment.

we should resist these unjust attempts at rewriting history to west's benefit and our detriment, by sticking to and exposing facts, relentlessly.

what i find most contemptible and despicable is the attitude of certain sri lankans who unquestioningly believe these lies from west. some of this foolish credulity may be due to the fact that they and their families depend on western funded ngos. but i think some of them were bred into such servility through several generations of willing slavery.

in the sri lankan blogosphere, this kind of thing is observable among others in indi samarajiva (indi.ca and padashow.wordpress) and sanjana hattotuwa (groundviews, moju, etc..) and their suckerboys. both want sri lanka to submit to western tools' 'judgment' and fail to even address or recognize the blatant injustice and inequality involved.

they happily welcome west's attempts at resource grabs (as in libya). if they blame west, it is always in past tense. so bush gets lot of abuse, but obama is good even though he is doing exactly what bush did with lot more hypocrisy. indi is on record, saying that west is 'more civilized' and has our best interest in mind, and seriously regretting that sri lanka does not have a 'barackian' administration, etc.. in fact i can fill several posts with on record ass licking of these two alone (i might some day).

iow, their willing servility and credulity, induced by cupidity, lead them to live in a fantasy world, where west is heroic and morally superior.

let us continue to expose and laugh at them, though they will continue to censor (while hypocritically preaching freedom of expression) any attempts to point out, their and their western masters', errors and lies, in their blogs.

questions that must be addressed by those who want an 'international war crimes inquiry' in sri lanka

i will highlight some basic questions that must be addressed by anyone who genuinely wants an 'independent international inquiry' into alleged war crimes committed in sri lanka.

all those who fail to address these issues betray their bad faith when they say they want justice and truth to prevail in order to reconcile the nation. many have already revealed bad faith (esp. when they commented on so called un panel/darusman report).

questions-
why only sri lanka is subjected to such an inquiry? are we the only ones that supposedly committed war crimes while fighting against terrorists? to take an example among many, what about the west in iraq, afghanistan, and pakistan? how does one advocate such a double standard inquiry when justice demands one standard for all? bc west is powerful and we, who are not, must obey? bc we, as 'inferiors' (racially or otherwise), must not demand equal treatment?

why is there an attempt (as with so called un/darusman panel) to focus only on suffering and wrongs of a section of sri lankans at one point of time, instead of all? why this separation of victims? is that justice? was sufferings of rest of us (few nauseating proofs here and here) inferior? how? can such arbitrary differentiations lead to reconciliation?

why now, after we defeated terrorists? why the focus only on last days of tamil tiger terrorists? why was our suffering from terrorists not inquired into for 30+ years? why many many crimes against humanity committed by terrorists not worthy of inquiry then? why did self styled humanitarians and human right advocates do nothing then? why same ppl who push for an international inquiry now, pushed us to appease the murderers then? why didn't same ppl and countries help us defeat the terrorists with least human loss, instead of opposing any attempt to defeat terrorists and end their crimes and our suffering? why no inquiry into terrorists collecting funds in west with help of some western politicians?

are some of the things we are accused of really 'war crimes'? are they not accidents, 'collateral damage', use of human shields by terrorists, etc., etc., common in any attempt to defeat terrorists? why these distinctions made for west's defense elsewhere, but in our case all these are 'crimes'? are we not right to suspect that, in western eyes, our main 'war crime' was our disregard for their pressure not to defeat terrorists (hence arbitrary focus of requested 'international' inquiry and illegitimate un/darusman panel, only on events after we disregarded west's call not to defeat ltte)? how is that justice?

shouldn't there be substantiated evidence before accusations are made? shouldn't those accused have a right to examine at first hand, and question (and cross question) the allegations and those who who make them, before such allegations are judged 'credible'? isn't prejudging this, as so called un/darusman panel did, an injustice?

didn't western funded ngos (like human rights watch, amnesty international, and international crisis group,) making the allegations, fail to appear, produce evidence, and face questions, before a legally constituted sri lankan inquiry when requested? wasn't their subsequent demand for an inquiry with 'international standards' that do not exist anywhere else (see above), rather than normal legal standards accepted by all (including sri lankan inquiry) a call for injustice and special treatment (betraying their colonial mindset)?

must be addressed
these are the questions that must be addressed by those who call for an 'independent inquiry with international standards' if they have any pretensions to intellectual honesty and integrity. it is impossible to claim such an inquiry, is independent, maintains legal standards, serves justice and truth, and leads to reconciliation, without answering these questions.

so far almost all those who have called for an 'international' inquiry have failed to address these issues. this is especially noticeable in articles, internet postings, and media interviews, etc., these ppl gave after the publication of so called un panel/darusman report. by not addressing them they betray their bad faith and disregard for justice and equality.

we, sri lankans, should not be afraid to assert ourselves and demand (aggressively if need be) that ppl who call for an 'international' inquiry must address these issues, bc it is we who are being slandered and denied justice and equality. in some cases we would be (and have been) accused for rudeness and subjected to censorship when we demand our basic rights by raising these issues. that is the usual mode of all such oppressors.

by demanding justice and equality, and exposing hypocrisy of those who fail to address these questions, we will overcome.

we should not hesitate to confront with these questions those sri lankans dependent on western funds (esp in ngos) who join with their paymasters in calling for an 'international' inquiry. failure to address or even recognize these issues, by this sort of willing slaves, deserve open contempt. let them go crying to their masters with our spit on their faces.

sidesteps
those who try to sidestep these questions by saying 'we should not be afraid of an inquiry if we have nothing to hide', or 'we should inquire into our actions regardless of whether west will inquire in to theirs in iraq etc.' are missing the point. we, sri lankans, should in fact inquire into our actions in sri lanka under sri lankan law. we should criticize any undue delay or shortcoming in such a sri lankan inquiry.

however shortcomings or not, nothing can justify our submitting to an unjust and unequal inquiry approved and forced upon us by west. anyone honestly addressing the questions above will realize that any 'international' inquiry constituted at present will be unjust, will treat us unfairly, and serve only western interests.

osama bin laden, dead. good.

as everyone know by now, despicable mass murderer osama bin laden, head of al-qaida was killed in an operation conducted by american central intelligence agency (cia) in pakistan last night.

this is good news for all those who hate terrorism.

americans rightly celebrate in usa. see photos.

racist double standards
we will see whether those westerners ( and their tools and paid slaves) who advised us not to celebrate our freedom after we defeated tamil tiger terrorist murderers (in the process killing mass murderer velupillai prabhakaran) will give the same advise now. we were threatened, oppressed, and killed, to a greater extent by tamil tigers than al-qaida ever did to west. also our victory was more comprehensive and less costly in lives and resources. but west said we should not express joy at our liberation, then.

we will also observe whether west and its tools will investigate the possible 'war crimes' that were committed in the operations that were conducted while tracking down and killing osama.

for instance, all american operations in pakistan break international law (since countries are not at war, united nations has not authorized such attacks, and pakistani government and ppl have formally and publicly opposed them). in many earlier attacks in pakistan ( esp by so called unmanned drones) lots of innocents were killed. all, such attacks, including the last were authorized by american president; responsibility is his. there are no commissions to investigate any of the western attacks so far (nor for western attacks in other countries).

in contrast, we, sri lankans are 'investigated' and pressured by illegitimate panels, etc. set up by west and its tools (with only allegations to back up the 'charges', and in most cases for actions that were not even crimes). as i said before, this a denial of justice and equality.

i suspect these unjust and unacceptable double standards will continue.

wishing all the worst to trashy couple providing the royal circus

to badly paraphrase great english poet milton, it is better to live free than serve in britain. british with any brains (if any) will think so today.

btw john milton actively supported oliver cromwell's kingless commonwealth in 17th century. he defended regicide. all of his work, including paradise lost, resonate with anti monarchist themes.

in spite of that example, british basely serve the monstrosity that is set to put on an unbelievably vulgar mass entertainment disguised as a wedding today.

if last example was any guide, ostentatious event will be kitschy heaven (horse drawn carriages, wedding dresses borrowed from disney animation, gaudy military uniforms, etc.). ignorant defend it as cultural heritage, not knowing that this type of circus was unknown in past.

bad taste
maybe the fact that house of saxe-coburg and gotha (renamed house of windsor during a racist fit in uk), was basically royal trash in origin, has something to do with the bad taste. they came from one of hundreds of petty states that littered germany before bismark unified it. hapsburgs and bourbons would have kept them waiting in ante rooms in old days; before they wormed themselves in to british crown when heir by primogeniture was disinherited due to his catholic religion. then newish english nobility (old normans having died out from hundreds years war and war of roses) enriched with property looted from catholic church preferred it that way (btw this is why some old manor houses in england has names like 'abbey' etc. ).

maybe it is the undoubted fact that (to badly parapharse thomas more from play/movie a man for all seasons) several times along their pedigree several bitches/dogs got over the wall. for example edward iv was certainly not his father's son. and nobody with eyes will claim harry (one who loves to wear nazi uniforms) is charles' biological son. however this er ... mixing of new blood, may be better than the centuries of inbreeding, that resulted in various genetic deceases family gifted to others with its daughters. last tsesarevich being a prime example of this misfortune.

whatever the cause, vulgar taste has come to distinguish british royals from other royals european (spanish, belgian, swedish, etc.,) and asian (japanese malaysian, etc.,). monaco's similarly trashy ruling family and some of nouveau riche arabic royals being the only others that prefer such vulgar display at private occasions.

british values
leaving bad taste aside, it is a telling commentary on british values, that while rest of the world did away with fundamentally unjust primogeniture inheritance, religious discrimination, and other such nonsense, british still persist with them at the top.

similarly telling that britain and its dominions still pledge allegiance and wish long lives to these willing symbols of unlamented genocidal british empire; the political entity responsible for mass murders and other atrocities longer and greater than all others combined. instead of wishing for a quiet extinction of such an embarrassment, remnant of brutish empire gets nostalgic, and want to celebrate its possible perpetuation. crown jewels encrusted with blood stained loot from colonies (most of the gemstones coming from sri lanka) will play their part in that celebration.

that ignorant mawkishly sentimental british public (at least they have buried the myth of british stiff upper lip) prefer all this stink is no excuse for others to wish it well. nor should we let ourselves be led like sheep by mass media into admiring bad customs and vulgarity. (lets leave that kind of stupidity to british welfare recipients.)

so let me wish william and kate a very unhappy scandal rich marriage.

i am sure that the couple who epitomize the idle wastefulness of western upper class (almost 30 with nothing productive from both) will appreciate my wish that they keep up other family traditions just as they do some traditions today. in contrast, those wish them well with tears in their eyes today while watching tv for several hours, will be salivating for a great scandal in 2 years time.

i will even propose a good scandal to start things off - video clips of a threesome with butler (or whatever they call that functionary) come to light; british public getting over their fake shock, show their 'sophisticated' sentimentality through another royal wedding (with 3 partners) and comment on how exactly like his mother william looked in yet another disney faiy tale dress.

indi samarajiva's 'truth' and sri lankan truth

indi samarajiva thinks, we, sri lankans, don't acknowledge 'truth ', 'shitt', 'bad stuff' etc., about innocents dying and suffering due to military efforts to defeat murderous tamil tigers. instead we, according to him, engage in what he terms 'bureaucratic niceties','pointless', 'legalistic' 'meta-discussions' about so called 'un panel' report '. by his reading, sri lankans are not 'secure in their identity' to face 'truth'.

as usual he is missing the core.

far from being in denial we, sri lankans, have already acknowledged, and more to the point, experienced, suffering from armed violence. it is he who has not. it is to him, and his ilk, that suffering in sri lanka is at other end of a camera.

similarly, since he cannot feel it, he also dismisses out of hand a very real injustice committed against sri lanka by west, (so called 'un panel' and report is the latest manifestation of this injustice as i said in my last post and other sri lankans have voiced in many fora.)

indi's inability to understand sri lankan reality and mindset is to be expected, since he moves exclusively in english-thinking pseudo elite colombo cocoon (perhaps the only section of sri lankan society that did not experience suffering; these are ppl who thought going through a road block equaled end of the world, while rest of us went through suicide bombs. since they live in fantasy world they get all their predictions about sri lanka wrong, be it defeat of ltte, economy, elections, etc. read what they have written and confirm. lazy foreign journalists who make these their sources make the same mistakes.)

even he seems to be aware of weakness of what he says, so resorts to posting a photo of an injured child to illustrate the so called 'truth' and win sympathy for his argument. in the process he reveals how disconnected he is.

nobody is denying suffering and deaths of sri lankans due to atrocities of tamil tigers and resulting military operations to defeat them.

we lived among suffering and death. we experienced it; we died, were maimed, were splattered with blood of our own children, friends, relatives, and strangers, first as children and then as adults. all of us remember sound of bombs and ran from gunfire. we saw living hells of mangled bodies and then tried to help with puke filling our mouths (worst among many i saw first hand was the dehiwela train bomb).

but indi thinks we don't 'acknowledge' 'truth'! ha!

and let us not forget lost opportunities of material kind either; property, private and public, destroyed and made useless, businesses and paddy fields blighted, discouraged investments, diversion of resources away from health, education, etc., and even cowardly snubbing of our cricket team by west.

sri lankans suffered in all those ways for 30 long years due to tiger terrorism and gov military efforts aimed at bringing those murderers to 'peace' (read appeasement) talks. west promoted all this. during so called ceasefires sri lankans were handed over to unchecked ltte oppression with western support. west, and likes of indi, ignored our suffering at those times. no photos of dead children appeared in his blog then, though they were here. (maybe likes of indi only experiences 'reality' only in photos, so here are few more horrors we suffered, and more.)

finally, abandoning dehumanizing appeasement of terrorists by blood, we defeated ltte in spite of objections from west (and likes of indi).

we voted in and honored those who help defeat tiger terrorists.

we ended our suffering emanating from armed violence.
its our responsibility not just government's or 'military's as indi implies.

but indi thinks we don't 'acknowledge' that!

now we are told by west and their tools we were wrong to end our suffering the way we did, and those who contributed most to end that suffering (sri lankan military and political leadership) are branded war criminals. (note its the same west that is inflicting suffering on others far from their countries. and its the same same western tools who are yet to say anything much on those inflictions of suffering).

we, (just as much as our military and political leadership) accept our responsibility for our actions. but we object to unjust criminalization. we object to west's denial of equality and justice to us.

indi doesn't object to this injustice, he thinks we should accept it, if we are 'secure' in our 'identity'. he thinks our objections are mere 'bureaucratic niceties','pointless', 'legalistic' 'meta-discussions', etc.,etc.!

what can we say! huh?

we know who we are.

we suffered and escaped.
we acknowledged, assessed, asserted, and acted.
we and our children will live with our disabilities and sad experiences. but we are also proud and joyful that we are free from armed violence. we are not bringing our future generations to a world of violence. they will have opportunity to live without disabilities and sad experiences.
that is an identity and responsibility we are proud of.

indi who did not experience, disclaims responsibility, photographs us from cocoon, separates us, and puts imagined words in our mouths. in his distorted lens, we insecurely deny our suffering and our actions.

prejudiced west try to criminalize us, and deny justice and equality to us.

we will overcome these new evils too, with our own efforts. we will be proud and joyful then too.

bc we know who we are; once victims, who after experiencing and acknowledging the truth realistically, overcame our suffering through our own non criminal efforts.

illegitimate "un panel": denial of justice and equality to sri lankans

so called panel advising united nations secretary general ban ki moon has officially presented its report.

murderous tamil tiger sympathizer/propagandist running a so called citizen journalist blog (far from it) leaked parts of it to media few days ago during new year holidays in sri lanka. most media did not want to print before official u.n. release, some did print it, edited. while i have no problem with leaks, calculated attempt to control media narrative before sri lankan government had time even to examine the report indicate the bad faith and secret agendas of those responsible.

lot of ppl have commented on the report and its content. mostly nonsense, though some made sense.

i will comment on content of report in detail another time (if ever). for present, i will point out why everyone who wants justice to prevail should object to both panel and report on principle.

imo, this report symbolize the western governments' and their tools' denial of equality and justice to sri lanka.

very constitution of such a panel to look into alleged war crimes in sri lanka is a blatant instance of injustice.
where are other such panels to look into war crimes committed by usa, uk, and other western countries in iraq, pakistan, and afghanistan? [btw deaths in pakistan due to american bombing implicate obama himself as a bloody war criminal since they cannot be explained away as collateral damage from a legitimate targeting or a case of indiscipline in military; no target in pakistan territory is legal under international law at present and missions were authorized by obama.] unlike allegations against sri lanka these crimes are substantiated with visual and documentary evidence.
why are we treated differently?

it is an ad hoc panel with no judicial capacity but its report pretends to judge events and claims. where is the justice in such vigilantism?

the panel claims there are 'credible' 'allegations' of war crimes sri lanka. that is a ridiculously unjust statement. how does one judge 'credibility'? by what standards? by whom? they would have been more specific on these points if they were treating us with justice and equality. report's extremely shoddy choice of words betray unstated prejudices of its members.

the allegations referred are in fact mere allegations nothing more. they are not subjected to any kind of test and cross examination. no verifiable supporting evidence is presented. no procedure is detailed as to how those who made the allegations were examined by panel. iow, those sri lankans slandered by the allegations (esp. in the sl military) are shabbily treated and denied justice by the panel.

all these injustices against sri lanka are augmented by certain western media institutions (those in uk in particular ) and ngo tools of western governments (amnesty international, human rights watch, etc ). they incorrectly and implicitly refer to this mere ad-hoc advisory panel as a properly constituted 'un panel' established by united nations with powers to investigate. they make 'allegations' into positive facts. in the process they unjustifiably convict innocent sri lankans of war crimes with no indictments or even evidence. [if i have time i will expose some of the most blatantly racist 'journalists' and ngos involved and detail their explicit distortions here. i have protested in their websites whenever possible and so have others. all who want justice to prevail and hate racism should do so whenever they see any, in spite of censorship these hypocrites impose.]

panel calls for an "independent investigation complying with international standards". by all means, let all war crimes world over be subjected to an equal and just investigation. however there is no chance for any such at present.

instead, an investigation that meets western approval, forced only upon sri lanka cannot be an "independent investigation with international standards" by definition. all sri lankans should object to that. so should all who want justice to prevail.

sri lanka should investigate all crimes committed in sri lanka. sri lankans should be free to object to any injustices or lack of standards, if any, in any such investigation. unjust hypocritical westerners and their tools should have no say in it and should stay out it.

sri lanka had the right to militarily defeat the tamil tiger murderers. that is no crime.
sri lanka had the right to ignore western attempts to save our murderers from defeat. that is no crime.
sri lanka has the right to point out ltte was mainly funded (in later years ) by racists in diaspora seeking asylum in western countries. that is no crime. [btw most western governments (usa exempted) did almost nothing to to stop this funding].
did some innocents die from accidents or what westerners callously term 'collateral damage', or ltte's use of 'human shields', when military was defeating ltte? yes, but that is no crime.
did sri lanka restrict media and foreigners' access to military operations? yes, but that is no crime.
did sri lanka screen for ltte cadres among displaced people escaping from ltte control? yes, but that is no crime.
did sri lanka keep displaced ppl for few months in camps (where no unusual deaths or epidemics occurred) until they were screened, land mines were cleared, and basic infrastructure (roads,schools, etc.,) were restored? yes, but that is no crime. those camps were partially funded and run by u.n.. vast majority of ppl were resettled within a year. no crime.
is sri lanka rehabilitating ltte cadres who surrendered after their defeat? yes. large numbers have been released and most are in mild captivity with access to red cross. few leaders are actually out on bail awaiting trail. again no war crime. [btw very existence of those leaders make liars of those who claim that unlamented ltte leadership was killed after surrender.]
etc., etc..

while i don't approve few of those actions as a libertarian (i have given my views on almost all in these in detail in this blog), they are not war crimes.

to imply any of these are crimes is to deny us justice and equality. we, sri lankans should object and protest all who commit such injustices.

world should oppose britain's fishing for oil in troubled libyan waters

it seems that despicable remnant of genocidal british empire wants to keep and expand its libyan oil holdings taking advantage of unrest there. so called united kingdom (which is almost broke) has put its armed forces (renowned for their undisciplined brutish treatment of natives in iraq and afghanistan) on alert. here are some headlines from papers in uk. france seems to be doing the same.

britain and qaddfi in recent past

remember britain in 2009 released the libyan terrorist who bombed an airliner over lockerbie killing hundreds, british ministers (including prime ministers and royals) were regular visitors of crazy dictator qaddafi, english education institutions gave degrees to qaddafi's son, etc., etc..
all this for what? primarily to get oil deals for british oil companies like bp (formerly british petroleum). this blog, among many other commentators, pointed out the 'blood for money' nature of what was going on when the terrorist was released and several wikilaeks documents have tended to confirm it further. don't forget all those british engineers who had to be rescued from libya.

(btw for the record, lots of political leaders from around the world visited quddafi in recent years to get something, but british were very successful in getting concrete results, in contrast to most of others, including sri lankan president)

fishing in troubled waters
now that their chum qaddafi is battling for survival, british leaders have decided, it is a great time to dig their snouts further by employing the time tested imperial technique of exploiting quarrels among natives.

hard pressed anti-qaddafi rebels have an unknown, inexperienced, and disorganized leadership. legitimacy of their claim to represent libyans is doubtful and needs recognition from libyans and foreigners. by mere fact of dealing with them, western countries can and will give part of that recognition to those among rebel leaders who are willing to obey west. in other words, rebels are hardly in a position to safeguard libyan interests in such dealings. at this stage, they will be concerned more with establishing their position against qaddafi and within movement. result - rebels almost certainly will agree to oil agreements that will mostly benefit british. no wonder western eagerness to get involved.

that is why, rest of the world should send a clear message to british and west -

hands off!

let libyans fight it out without foreign help if that is what libyans want.

if world (including west) want to help libyans, they should confine themselves to sending aid (food, medical supplies, etc.,) nothing more.

don't allow united nations to be manipulated in to legitimatizing this oil grab.

if a western "coalition of the willing" go ahead without even u.n. sanction , they should be condemned and exposed as the neo imperialists they are. anyone in non-west who support such an attempt and refuse to condemn it should be branded as a slave of west.

one of the methods by which these western nations will try to legitimize their attempt to devour libayan assets is to exaggerate the alleged violence and resultant chaos in libya. to this end they will use all tools available including western media and western funded ngos. rest of the world should not be fooled. they should check the sources of news reports and follow the money before believing anything.

even if such chaos is true, that does not justify military intervention from west. iraq and afghanistan are suffering from much larger humanitarian disasters as a result of western occupation. given that fact, western military intervention is definitely not the solution to a humanitarian crisis in libya.

if britain and west commence a military intervention in libya, westerners in libya should be and will be legitimate targets, and all honest ppl should support libyans who want westerners out of libya.

ok, just before the show starts, here are my choices for main awards.
usually my choices (when there is a choice, that is) don't win. which failure, like any conceited person, i attribute to my superior taste. however sometimes they do win, surprisingly so.

btw this selection is from those nominated only; that is, don't think my choice for best movie oscar is my best movie of 2010.

for the record, i do think lower buzz and ever decreasing importance for america's main movie award show is a good thing for the world.

best picture: the social network
film while not great (or truthful), was entertaining and original.
all the choices available were of uneven quality; none of my acting choices are in best movie.

best director: david fincher (the social network)
i hope darren aronofsky (black swan) won't win, bc while that movie was good, director included too many cheap tricks (as in jump-scares etc.,).

best actress in a leading role: jennifer lawrence (winter's bone)
imo this is one of the best performances, ever. too bad this independently produced movie was not seen by many and she probably won't win.
award probably will go to natalie portman from black swan, which is not bad bc she did do a great job in spite of the director.

best actor in a leading role: jeff bridges (true grit)
unfortunately colin firth is likely to get it due to vulgar hollywood's fascination with even more vulgar british royals (esp in historically inaccurate and favorable portrayals). :-(

cricket world cup predictions before tournament meaningless +bookie odds

i don't get ppl (esp the so called experts) who make predictions about who will win the icc cricket world cup.

i am not referring to ppl who wish and hope their favorite team will win, but ppl who make 'serious' predictions. anyone who knows cricket knows that luck plays a big part in the game, as much as capabilities of players and teams.

in fact one can define cricket as a game where result depends on how each team cope with turns of the wheel of fortune through a match.

some teams (like australia is recent past, but not at present) were good at coping with anything dealt, so in last two world cups it was safe to predict to a certain extent.

once the tournament starts to progress, we can judge each team's current coping abilities, then predictions will make more sense.

so i am not going to predict while wishing the best for sri lankan team.

"world cup" - google fail

almighty goog's search algorithm sucks.

do a search for 'world cup' from google.lk (to which all searchers from sri lanka are automatically directed) and confirm.

even though 2011 icc cricket world cup is upon us and sri lankans do not care much for soccer, of the first 10 web results, 8 are for fifa world cup, 1 (at no 10) is for rugby. only the 6th is for icc world cup (tournament schedule from official site hosted by yahoo).

as you can see from the screenshot (click to enlarge ) news results are better.

google.co.in is only marginally better. instead of 6th, official cricket world cup site is at no 1 (one cannot but suspect that results produced by algorithm were overridden to insert this at no 1; google has done this in past notably to counteract google bombs) and wikipedia's entry for 2011 icc world cup also puts in an appearance lower down, but rest is for fifa.

other search engines (yahoo, bing, etc.) are no better.

if this is the case for "world cup" imagine the quality of results for other searches by south asians.

if google does not wise up, there is a business opportunity here for some one else. remember that google was a latecomer to search, others like infoseek (now unrecognizable as go.com), altavista etc., which once dominated, failed bc they couldn't produce the results ppl were searching for. google is already falling behind in east asia.

egypt: dictator out, junta in. celebrations and congrats too early

hosni mubarak egypt's dictator was ousted yesterday, after 30+ years of brutal corrupt oppression and 17 days of protests, strikes, riots, looting, prison breakouts, lynchings, etc., etc..

a military junta of his closest cronies (with equally brutal and corrupt personal histories) have taken power in place of their master with vague promises to bring in democracy some time in the future.

herd, around the word (including a few idiots in sri lanka), are celebrating and offering congrats to egyptians.

!?

too early imo.
democracy is yet to dawn in egypt. i will keep my congratulations and celebrations till then. anybody with a brain should.
remember all those 'color revolutions' in recent past from ukraine to georgia to lebanon. hardly harbingers of democracy. egypt is likely, imo, to fare even worse.

america's impotent involvement
over the years united states of america gave more aid to mubarak's brutal regime than to any other country except isreal. it turned a blind eye to repression of opponents of that regime and even used the regime to do its dirty work by sending (/'rendering') terror suspects to egypt so they can be tortured without legal obstacles prevailing in american territory.

when protests started, obama administration in usa (and its poodles in west) which support many such regimes and directly commits and oversees even worse brutalities in iraq, afganistan etc., assumed its usual hypocritical stance as champion of democracy and human rights, and called for reforms but stopped short of calling for mubarak's resignation. but as days went on, usa became aware of his and its own impotence. to cut its losses obama administration seems to have decided to dump mubarak and try its luck with a friendly military junta. (cia chief got ahead of himself when he announced mubarak's departure on thursday).

btw it is indicative of so called super power's over stretch and ever increasing weakness that it is now always responding to events and has lost its ability to control them in favor of its allies as in the past.

[mainstream western media's coverage of protests with deliberate blind spots (disgusting anti jewish sentiments of protesters, role of widespread anti christian riots in late december and early january, etc.) and exaggerations (role of social media) deserve another post. ]

what next?
whether a junta consisting of mubarak's (and west's ) cronies can maintain power is an open question. only the events will show.

in any case, imo, there are two likely outcomes, and both does not involve a functioning democracy of even imperfect western (usa, eurape, etc.,) or asian (south korea, taiwan, japan, malaysia, india, and of course sri lanka, ) models.

outcome will be determined by how, now legitimized, protests are handled in the future (as in next year or two) by those in power in egypt.

there will be more protests. double digit unemployment and inflation ensured the high public participation of protests. those causes are not going to disappear; disruptions from protests (and this year's freak weather around the world) will make them worse.

possibility 1
junta or some of its members successfully maintain power creating a mubarak lite regime, compliant to west and paying only lip service to aspirations of egyptians. this would involve cracking down on protests at some point. tunisia, which also ousted its dictator, seems to be going this way; newly installed pro western president was given emergency powers, a story buried by mainstream western media.

result, no democracy.

possibility 2
junta fails in face of future protests and soldiers unwillingness to crack down. an unstable government made of weak out of touch pro western 'liberals' (eg elbaradei) will be installed. islamists (led by grandfather of all islamic fundamentalist parties, muslim brotherhood) will support this temporarily to get rid of junta. once that has been achieved, muslim brotherhood, which is the most organized and experienced political entity apart from government and has maintained itself in opposition to a repressive regime, will take control.

don't believe this scenario? well you better read history. that is exactly what happens in revolutions. barring a counter revolution (led by elements of old regime) most extreme and organized party among revolutionaries always gain control. perfect example,1917 revolutions in russia. (coincidentally first one took place in february there too, we know what happened by october).

a country under the muslim brotherhood is not going to be democratic.

interesting times

today the worldwide herd is unwittingly celebrating the dawn of interesting times for the egyptians.

text relevant to sri lanka -

(S//NF) DS/TIA/ITA notes earlier credible tearline suggests Khafa,s network is striving to stand up two teams in southern India that rely on the support of LT members based in India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Nepal. Although specific details of planned LT attacks remain unknown, late-May intelligence indicates Khafa,s cells were engaged in surveillance activities of potential targets, likely in southern India. Early-May reporting further suggests Kerala or Tamil Nadu may be used as a base of operations following the establishment of a facilitation team in Sri Lanka, with the estimated time of completion for setting up the facilitation route and camps to be two to three months. (Appendix sources 8-18)

shafiq khafa is a member of "india-based"(?) lashkar-e-tayyiba terrorist group operating mainly from pakistan aiming, it claims, to 'liberate' kashmir and to establish an 'islamic' state in south asia.

i published another post based on the 3rd document earlier today. it is on how british foreign minister miliband was fishing for uk tamil votes when interfering in sri lanka just before the terrorists' defeat.

this was written on january 15, 2010. that is during final stages of presidential elections.

here is the summary in full

"There have been a few tentative steps on accountability for crimes allegedly committed by Sri Lankan troops and civilian officials during the war with the LTTE. President Rajapaksa named a committee to make recommendations to him on the U.S. incidents report by April, and candidate Fonseka has discussed privately the formation of some form of “truth and reconciliation” commission. Otherwise, accountability has not been a high-profile issue -- including for Tamils in Sri Lanka. its a good summary of the document and cover the main points made in main text of doc.

alleged war crimes
war crimes are correctly prefaced by word 'alleged'. good. because no kind of evidence is presented to say that any war crimes actually were committed by sri lankan government side. nor is there any indication in the document to say amercan diplomats have seen any evidence to that effect.

in fact nobody has seen any verifiable evidence of these alleged war crimes by "sri lankan troops and civilian officials" anywhere. those who continue to speak about them please let us, sri lankans, have the evidence.

ppl who continues to accuse us of war crimes and fails to produce the evidence, are slandering us and depriving us of our rights. such accusers by blindly following unsubstantiated allegations made by tamil tiger terrorist's remaining foreign based supporters have become tools of those murderers .

also if anyone is applying a double standard and is reluctant to use the same words "war crimes" in accusing american and other western governments and military and fail to call obama, bush, blair, etc etc. "war criminals" (in spite mountain of verifiable solid evidence of war crimes by them in iraq, afghanistan, and pakistan) they are also racists.

now there is some confusion with meaning of following para in this document.

"There are no examples we know of a regime undertaking wholesale investigations of its own troops or senior officials for war crimes while that regime or government remained in power. In Sri Lanka this is further complicated by the fact that responsibility for many of the alleged crimes rests with the country’s senior civilian and military leadership, including President Rajapaksa and his brothers and opposition candidate General Fonseka."

is the ambassador saying "sri lankan president responsible for "alleged war crimes"", in the sense they have personally committed war crimes?of course not. it clearly does not say that.

in fact it does not say what these alleged crimes were and their nature so we cannot say how anyone can be held responsible for them.

is it saying that ultimate responsibility for any war crimes even if committed by any military or government officials rest with rajapaksa brothers and fonseka in their then official capacity? maybe, but that would be true of any country. so why then the use of words "In sri lanka this is further complicated ... "

only the ambassador butenis can clarify this and she should.

maybe she is lousy sloppy writer? possible. there is evidence of sloppiness even in this para. she refers to "President Rajapaksa and his brothers (sic)" now only one brother (defense secretary gotabaya rajapaksa in addition to president can be held responsible for any alleged war crimes if they were ever committed. other brothers were not directly involved in defeating terrorists with military means. so clearly a slip of the pen there.

so ms. butenis do explain your words!

it would be unwise to come to unjustified conclusions or second guess such vague and imprecise words.

this is esp vital since certain media organizations have intentionally mis-characterized her words. (more on that in another post)

accountability and reconciliation
what is said in this document about progress in establishing a mechanism for accountability is redundant. president rajapaksa has since then appointed 'the commission on lessons learnt and reconciliation' well past anything mentioned by ambassador butenis on that count.

she was right in her assessment that all these alleged war crimes and accountability not being a main issue of the election apart from president's promise to "personally to stand up to any international power or body that would try to prosecute sri lankan war heroes". which was a popular and morally correct stand to take on his part.

tamil diaspora vs sri lankan tamils
we already know that tamils in sri lanka and racist tamil activists in diaspora have different interests and butenis confirms this in this document..

sri lankan tamils are more focused "on current bread-and-butter issues". and imo government should stick to them too. bc racists in diaspora will not be satisfied until tamil tigers are revived and again start murdering sri lankans so that they can continue to claim asylum in west.

it seems sarath fonseka made private promises to mano ganesan without disclosing them to public to get his support, of course this was suspected at time ( i and others said so. see my election posts) . given that ganesan supported ltte terrorists and is yet to regret that support, these promises could very well be harmful to sri lanka. ganesan and fonseka should explain themselves to sri lankan public .

international community "push"

ambassador butenis is right that so called "international community" pushing anything on sri lanka will not be welcomed by sri lankans. to call such a natural desire for freedom from interference a mere "super-heated campaign rhetoric" only point to limitations of her mind. maybe she has got used to working with willing slaves in other countries? then she better learn to change her attitude.

of the leaked 251,287 american diplomatic "cables " only 553 have been published so far. of that only 4 were on sri lanka (even though there are reportedly 3,225 on sri lanka in total.) i have posted some thoughts on first 2 published earlier.

this leak made happy reading for me bc it confirms what i ( and others of like mind) have said all along; certain leftish british politicians (esp from labour party then in power) desired to stop and impede sri lanka's fight against terrorist murderers bc they wanted votes of tamil diaspora in uk and they thought pandering to vocal tamil tiger terrorist supporting racists is the way go. (here is just one instance among many where i said this was happening)

the leaked memo is dated 05/07/2009 [new link to same from new wikileak site](11 days before end of tamil tigers) and reports on a meeting american diplomats from us london embassy had with british foreign office sri lanka team leader tim waite and desk officer sharon diaz on same day.

remember miliband was uk foregn minister and he was spending 60% of his time on sri lanka. and this was may 2009, and uk elections were held on may 06, 2010, one year later(though they were initially expected earlier).

what of sri lanka in wikileak's latest doc dump? who will they embarrass in sl?

[this post will be updated at bottom with new items as they are published in wikileaks until i write another post on the same subject. ]

so far wikileaks has published only 278 (243 yesterdays and rest today) out of the 251,287 documents it acquired without authorization from american state department.

they have resulted in severe embarrassment to usa, once again exposing the big disconnect between what americans (from obama down) say and what they do. as usual it appears that american state is run by arrogant hypocrites who care nothing for ethics and morality when they want to dominate others and force them to act in american interest; war, war crimes, crimes, assassination, spying, corruption, deception, etc., etc.. all seem to be fair. what's new? [one has to be a fool not to have realized this already. there are few such fools in sri lanka including in sl blogosphere.]

usa is doing exactly what all other dominant countries have done from beginning of history;

hubristic amercans' ultimate fate will be the same too.

however what of documents about sri lanka? what do they reveal about american diplomats' view of our country.

the few media outlets that were given pre release access to the documents by wikileaks have not reported on content of any mainly sri lanka related document (as far as i can see).

there is a mention of sri lanka in one document [new link from new wikileak site] that is already notorious for revealing that hillary clinton, u.s. secretary of state, ordered american diplomats at united nations to spy on other un diplomats and gather data including biometric data, "internet and intranet "handles", internet e-mail addresses, web site identification-urls; credit card account numbers; frequent flyer account numbers ....".

in addition to all that illegal stuff, state department wanted info on various things about lots of countries including with regard to sri lanka,

Views and intentions of UNSC, UN human rights entities, and members regarding Sri Lankan government policies on human rights and humanitarian assistance; UN views about appointing a Special Envoy for Sri Lanka.

this was in july 31,2009. of course no envoy was appointed (nor was one needed).

however there are other sri lankan documents in the leak. lots of them.

here (click to enlarge) is the info-graphic in spiegel online (one of the media that got pre-access), as you can see sri lanka has a relatively big dot over it in the map, corresponding to no of documents to be leaked. time line indicate the date of origin of those documents; color the level of secrecy.

leaks also indicate that u.s embassy in sri lanka has been busy. as the following graphic from wikileaks website indicate colombo embassy is the 11th biggest originator of these documents.

it will be interesting to know whether all docs originating from colombo concern sri lanka. esp given certain conspiracy theories that went round when voice of america installed a broadcasting facility here.

anyway we will wait for the publication of documents

who will be embarrassed?
i have a feeling (and i may be wrong ) that those who will be most embarrassed in sri lanka when these 'cables' come to light in full, will be certain opposition figures. given their pronounced tendency to lick western ass, i wont be surprised if they opened their mouths way too much when err.... talking to american diplomats. several blabber mouthed pro americans (esp in arab countries) have already been embarrassed from the few released documents. also most of the docs seems to cover the so called ceasefire period when opposition was in power. there is also sarath fonseka's alleged contacts with americans in 2009 and during election.

in contrast, we already know that present sl government leaders are not given to ass lick west, so no favorites with usa. americans expressing their resulting prejudices will not surprise anyone. revelations will only make it more difficult for individual american diplomats who wrote them to have a working relationship here.

on the other hand, if it is revealed that those american diplomats have been intelligent enough to look past their prejudices and narrow world view to understand sri lankan reality and mindset, and recommended engagement with sri lanka, there will corresponding benefits to all.

another doc on sri lanka [new link from new wikileak site] reports on a discussion americans had with with amitav banerji, director, political affairs division of commonwealth secretariat on 06/11/2009.

(C) Banerji said that the human rights situation in Sri Lanka during and after the recent military offensive had been raised “informally and off the record” by the UK during the last CMAG meeting, forcing a difficult conversation with the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister, as Sri Lanka is currently a member of CMAG. Banerji said the Commonwealth continues to watch the situation in Sri Lanka and noted that Sri Lanka’s offer to host the next Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) had been turned down over concerns about lending international credibility to the Government’s actions.

no new revelations there; local media contemporaneously reported pretty much everything there.

btw who cares about the commonwealth? only thing it seems to do is parade the hopelessly vulgar british royals and hold games. (btw at 2010 edition of commonwealth games sri lankan president was the guest of honor at closing ceremony). idea that such a rickety old skeleton of genocidal british empire can lend any kind of credibility can only be entertained by westerners and their paid slaves with mental clocks stopped in 1930s, if not 1800s.

evidence of racist pro terrorist bias in the associated press(ap) 'reporter' bharatha mallwarachchi's latest hack job

in sri lanka's there are certain paid western and/or pro tamil tiger terrorist tools. esp so in ngo and so called journalistic community writing in english. some of them are so deeply committed to their racist and slavish agenda, that they go so far are as to deliberately forget standard professional practices and ethics in order to parrot and exaggerate unsubstantiated terrorist propaganda, and try their best to slander sri lanka, sri lankans and its institutions (ranging from government to buddhism).

bharatha mallwarachchi currently working for associated press is one such. in this post i will examine his latest hack job for its racist pro terrorist bias.

following image is a screen-shot of the ap report authored by this tool (click to enlarge). it was published within last 24 hours.

first there is the title "sri lanka evicts some war refugees from villages".
really ?
note that title is not enclosed in quotation marks.

this 'eviction' turns out to be a mere allegation by tamil national alliance (tna aka itak), in particular tna mp suresh premachandran. so far reporter has not produced any other evidence to back this beyond tna statement. he has not verified this from independent sources.

maybe tna and mr premachandran are independent sources? only a totally sloppy reporter who has not done his homework, or a deliberately biased one, would think that. tna was tamil tiger terrorists' proxy political party when they were still undefeated. they obtained 90%+ of votes in areas under the murderous terrorists then, while other political parties were completely suppressed. party has not regretted this association and still indulges in most racist rhetoric possible. all of this and more about tna is easily verifiable.

but for bharatha mallwarachchi all that does not matter. to him, if tna said something, that is no longer a mere statement but a fact.

btw i am not saying he should not report on tna statement; he should do it like professionals do reporting it as a mere statement by tna (providing tna's background).

contrast his treatment of tna statement with his treatment of governments' (old) statements about refugees. "The government said ...", "government says... ", "Officials say ..."etc., ; in every (note every) sentence referring to them the fact that government's statements were not verified were emphasized. that is right, if reporter cannot verify them. but he fails to make similar qualifications to that degree with tna statements in the report and title.

now why doesn't mallwarachchi verify any of these statements before writing?

for instance camps housing 'refugees' are funded and run to a great degree by united nation's agencies. why was this reporter unable to find the truth(or not) of government statistics from those u.n. agencies? it should be easy for a real reporter looking for truth.

then why doesn't he? pro terrorist propagandists were implying from the 1st moment of their existence that the camps were there for a sinister purpose (concentration camps perhaps?). reporting the easily verifiable fact that u.n. is funding and helping to run the camps certainly destroys any such conspiracy theory. now guess the reasons of mallwarachchi's studied total silence on easily verifiable u.n. presence!

that is not all .

he does not seems to have asked for a government response to tna statement as any professional reporter would have done before writing.

instead he quotes "the party sought government clarification, but there has been no response". but that is again a mere tna statement about alleged government non response to tna statement. a real reporter would have tried to contact government directly and have reported the results directly instead of relying solely on tna's word .

he also resorts to distortion and unwarranted speculation. he selectively quotes from remarks 'government spokesman' (actually cabinet spokesman, and minister) keheliya rambukwella made before these allegations from tna, during a press conference last week, as if his statements about landmines were a reply to them when they may not be. is mallwarachchi preemptively speculating and creating government response before government has even said a word? that is not his job! but such a hack probably does not know the meaning of professional ethics.

there is still more,
it seems mallwarachchi's politically correct wording is not correct at all and totally one sided.
"The Tamil rebels fought for a separate state, claiming decades of discrimination by the Sinhalese majority."

they certainly claimed to be acting for tamils but were they? this is an important distinction.
tigers are not equal to tamils (only racists equalize them). making the tiger murderers representative of tamils as they claimed to be (and enforced by killing and terrorizing all other tamil leaders) is a mark of a racist pro terrorist.

mallwarachchi takes their claims as as pure truth.
unbiased person would have said "tamil tigers claimed to be ..."

and were they "fighting' (implying fighting against military only)? a real reporter would have referred to their actual methods (deliberate targeting of civilians even children and places of religious worship etc, use of suicide bombers etc ) and consequences (their inclusion in lists of terrorist organizations including those in usa, eu, etc) even if he does not prefer to not use the word 'terrorist' directly to them. all these are well documented.

unbiased person would have said "tamil tigers (listed as a terrorist organization by several countries due to their actions) claimed to be fighting for a separate state on behalf of tamils, alleging decades of discrimination ....etc ".

but for mallwarachchi they are 'tamil rebels' merely 'fighting'.

"rights groups have accused the government and rebel forces of deliberately targeting civilians."
again his desire to follow the pro terrorist propagandist agenda of creating moral equality between government and ltte is clear. yes rights groups have accused the government of targeting civilians, but so far without any proof whatsoever. in contrast what mallwarachchi calls 'rebel forces' have admitted, documented, and convicted, of hundreds of deliberate bombings of civilian buses, trains, airports, banks , places of religious worship etc etc killing thousands. now can he explain why he stops at mere 'accusation' when verifiable facts are available to all?

are his colleagues at ap going to say al-qaeda is merely accused of 9/11? really?

"according to U.N documents, more than 7,000 civilians died in the last five months of the conflict "
as pointed out above mallwarachchi seems to be totally unaware of u.n. agencies working in refugees camps but has no problem finding non existent positive statements from u.n. that 7000 civilians died. in fact there are no such documents with such concrete statements from u.n., only allegations (clearly so indicated) at third hand. a professional (if he/she wants this at all in his report ) would have said." according to u.n. documents, more than 7,000 civilians may have died in the last five months of the conflict though the figure was never verified by u.n. "

does anybody still think bharatha mallwarachchi is a professional reporter? isn't he rather a willing tool of racist pro terrorists? if you think he is not such a tool let me know why below.

it is a pity and a shame that once respected news organizations like the associated press are employing ppl such as this racist with his pro terrorist agenda .

will they employ a committed 9/11 "truther" conspiracy theorist as a reporter? they won't. but we in sri lanka are poor and powerless in world, so maybe ap thinks we would suffer the slanders of this hack without protest.

we wont stay silent. this protest and exposure may not have any effect just now, but as i have said before these things count in the long run. truth and sunlight always triumphs. we should continue to document these despicable biased reporters and expose them to the world and future in detail. we should choose aggressive confrontation over silent suffering in the face of dirt bags like bharatha mallwarachchi.

it seems fifa has sort of invalided the popular 'wisdom'; spain, which came first in the recent world cup, also got the 'nice guys' award (known as fair play ward) for getting least amount of red and yellow cards of teams that got through to 2nd stage.

makes one wonder whether it is still true that "real life suck losers dry" or whether we "have to learn to fly", "to fuck with the eagles"? were my flying lessons a total waste?

after one month break ...

i took an 1 month long break from almost everything (including blogging).

after new year holidays went on a packaged business cum religious retreat abroad (yes i know!). after that had 2 weeks to myself in an out of the way corner of sri lanka i own.

i wanted to think over and review my life and activities without any interference. i came to certain decisions which i hope to carry out.

(btw while my review included my blogging, i found no reasons to change anything in that regard).

on the whole had a very satisfying month. (so much so even my waistline seems to have increased for the first time in my adult life. lol.)

few quick thoughts on election results

i have been updating my election result post (where everything one needs to know is presented in one page) as results come in. remaining results will be updated as they become available. hopefully thousands of visitors there, both yesterday and today so far, did find it useful.

as of now according to reasonable speculation (find the full calculation here) upfa is going to get 143+ seats.

results are in line with what i expected before the polls.

ppl have spoken, in a turnout that is high relative to any other democracy (unsupported claims of low turnout comes from losers and/or ppl with pro terrorist agendas). it is now up to all those who respect democracy to accept it and work accordingly.

results are yet another indication that sri lankans are embracing and endorsing the new independent, proud, confident, sri lankan identity and mindset which started to assert itself felt few years ago, with enthusiasm.

they are definitely rejecting, appeasement driven peacenik, dependent on west , subservient attitudes of born slaves here.

unp
as i said several times before, if unp (which did not win even one district) wants to be credible, it has to embrace the new sri lakan reality and attitudes instead of attitudes of a few ppl in colombo. it must publicly dump both policies and ppl who advocated appeasement of terrorists (note both). with a new leadership, it must show that it is sincerely appreciative of glorious victory over terrorists which ensured human rights, freedom, democracy and justice (not to mention physical safety) for all sri lankans. it can differentiate itself from, vaguely left of center upfa, through economic policies, if unp start advocating free markets and private enterprise.

meanwhile the results of the outraged 'aesthetic' senses of that fringe of sri lankan society, the narrow minded slavish english thinking pseudo elite of colombo (which however provide a large number, and until recently constituted a majority,of sl bloggers) will be entertaining to read and watch. sanjana hattotuwa's groundviews for example, has already started vomiting. lol.

according to tradition of this blog, and for future reference, i will publish the results of sri lankan 2010 parliamentary general election held today on one page (updated as results are received).

they will be presented as before in a simple one page format .

the confirmed results of current election will be linked to election department website.

electoral division level
imo the contrast that would be useful on electoral division level would be with presidential election 2010 rather than 2004 general election (when political situation and party alliances were very different). as such below, for each division, i am giving 2 pairs of percentages (top one is the votes that mahinda rajapaksa and sarath fonseka got in january 2010 for that division . second one is the percentages of leading vote taking parties for that division during this election ( if not mentioned esp the figures are in format upfa/unp/dna) . i will fill the second one as results come in.

on district level
i will give percentages and no of seats of all seat winning parties of that district; 2004 general election, and current election. in addition i will calculate and give the seats that would have been allocated to upfa and all others if votes were similar to presidential election.

since imo it is quite possible to predict no of seats that would be won for most districts, using few electoral divisions, i might also publish a speculative seat allocation for each district once sufficient data is available.

i will give a national summary in line with what i provide at district one, with national list mp nos added.

its election day. only question in doubt is the is size of united people freedom alliance's majority in parliament.

imo they will probably not get 150 seats out of 225 directly, but will come close. they will certainly reach two thirds majority within months if not days, with help of small parties and defections.

if they don't get 2/3 straight away that is mainly due to modified proportional representative electoral system in place here (ppl vote for lists from parties and independent groups in 22 districts to elect 196 members of parliament and further 29 are elected through the national list). if the first past the post system prevailing in most countries (such as uk and usa) was in effect here, upfa will get something like 7/8th majority.

(btw before the next island wide election the number of mps from north and east provinces needs to be reduced, to be in line with actual population. at present, bc no census was carried out during terrorist oppression there, the seats allocated to the two provinces are the same as in 80s. population there is now much less due to exodus of ppl escaping terrorist oppression and resulting violence, as well as economic collapse. population in other provinces have increased due to the influx due to relative stability and economic growth. equal weight to all votes must be ensured in future)

should upfa get 2/3?
i do not agree with upfa's left of center ideology. yes they are not ideologues and tend to be down to earth practical ppl. that is why i am not in despair about their coming power.

there is also some justice in ppl who defeated terrorists murderers having the first go at direction of affairs during peace.

there is also this fact, there is no alternative to upfa.

two main so called alternatives are both unpalatable to me, and what is more important to most sri lankans.

united national party that has not repented its pro appeasement of terrorists policy cannot be given power. it has to publicly dump that policy and leaders who supported it, if it is ever to have chance at power.

unp leadership seems to be totally unconnected with sri lakans at large and only have ears for the that fringe of sri lankan society; the english speaking (or rather english thinking) pseudo elite in colombo with their narrow minds and tiny western liberal frames of reference. (it is not their preference for english that is wrong btw rather their whole mindset).

instead of espousing independent foreign policy its leaders have kowtowed to western leaders and even called for foreign intervention.

in addition it has not stood up for smaller government, civil liberties, economic liberalization, and free and open markets as it should. by not doing so they are setting themselves for future defeats, bc they will not be in a position to offer a coherent and credible alternatives when upfa government will falter, as it will.

to cap it, all unp candidate have reportedly (and unp general secretary is on video record) submitted undated letters of resignation from parliament to unp leader (to allow him to blackmail and control them). that is, they are willing to spit on the votes they get, to kiss ranil wickremasinghe's well used bottom. i don't think anyone who talks about good governance can vote for any unp candidate after that. but fools will, due to party loyalty and ignorance.

once terrorist jvp will not win many seats. the marxist idiots are now well on the way to obscurity and insignificance, on the same footsteps as old marxist parties. accused criminal sarath fonseka has lost his whatever appeal he once had (though he will get elected). a man who stores hundreds of thousands of dollars of unaccounted and unsourced money in his fugitive son in law's mother's safe deposit box is not a person to trust. (btw it is telling how his supporters (including online ones like now jobless indi padashow samarajiva) are completely silent on this uncontested fact. may be they were paid with some of the money for the presidential election propaganda)

anyway given the choices there will be no hesitation on most sri lankans' mind as to where to place the x today.

i tweeted on this earlier but in case anyone missed, here is wikileaks video of u.s. helicopters killing ppl and reporters in iraq in 2007. details are in the video. its authenticity has not been disputed. (warning : some may find this disturbing.)

as far as i can see no major western news media organization has posted wikileaks video in their main outlets in full (in blogs/cnn ireport/etc, yes, but not in frontend)

on sunday americans also admitted that their coalition forces had a role in killing of some afghan women in february. there were many other similar incidents in the past.

meanwhile american installed and later elected afghan president hamid karzai has continued to condemn international coalition's disregard for civilians casualties.

he has also claimed that westerners are responsible for the fraud in recent afghan elections. he even named alleged main fraudsters; peter galbraith, american former deputy head of the un mission, and philippe porillon, french former head of european union election monitoring team. (the story is also available in non western media w/o the pro western anti karazi spin. i selected a western source so that reader can decide what is spin and what is not therein)

there are claims of fraud in recent iraqi elections too (anyway why does results take so long (weeks) to be released in both those countries? in sl they come out within hours and the process is open).

my thoughts
now i fully support american war against terrorism and use of military violence in the process.

i am also aware of the almost certain possibility of accidents, as well as outbreaks of indiscipline, criminality, and insanity, in some members of military in spite of all the best efforts of political and military leadership, and institutional precautions.

what i cannot stand is hypocrisy.

why is sri lanka and sri lankan military accused of all sorts of war crimes in its fight against ltte tamil tiger terrorists (with almost no credible and authentic evidence to back up the charges) while western government aren't (even with much more solid evidence for their alleged crimes)? accusations are certainly not made on the same level.

even when they are made there is a telling difference in how accusations are framed; it is never the 'americans', 'british', etc., or their governments, who are committing 'war crimes' but some specific soldiers, 'bad apples', etc., but in accusations against sri lanka it is always 'sri lankans', 'sinhalese', 'tamils', and sl government, who are committing the alleged war crimes.

all that is due to double standards, hypocrisy, and yes, racism .

of course realistic sri lankans expect that sort of treatment from west. we know we have to fight our own battles and cannot expect west to act with justice and fairness to us. look at the pathetic predicament and treatment of karzai for what happens to ppl who depend on west.

that is why we should not allow those hypocrites to assume some sort of fake moral superiority in order presume to pass judgment on us. we have to aggressively confront them with facts and truth and reveal their hypocrisy and presumption. it may not have any effect on them, but we need to make our position clear; they have no right to judge us.

but there are born and paid slaves here who see no such double standard in behavior of the west in spite of evidence. that sort of filth believe the best about their masters in west and worst about us. its about time sri lankans at large treat these as they deserve. i for one has always done that.

jvp/sarath fonseka run lankatruth and terrorist parroting sanjana hattotuwa's groundviews were promoting a false completely made up 'news' story within last 24 hours.

it slandered both the president and sri lanka, branding both as racists through a made up qoute maliciously attributed to president. this propaganda was taken up and spread further by tamil tiger terrorist supporters in foreign countries.

clearly the intention was to damage sri lanka in general and president mahinda rajapaksa in particular.

note the timing too; weekend (in fact saturday) before election, meaning, their aim was to get the story on sunday and monday newspapers and other media here and in foreign countries. that way government will not have time to correct it if it was picked up by 'mainstream' news institutions. we will see how many such institutions will repeat such an obvious lie without fact checking. fact check can easily be done and require only a video of president's jaffna speech (and a translator).

actions of the 2 websites will not be a surprise to those who know their history. sanjana hattotuwa has a long history of parroting terrorists after all (he had to delete groundviews predecessor moju bc it was so full of pro terrorist promotions and statements, from terrorist fronts like now internationally banned tro). he also arbitrarily censors corrections and criticisms of lies published in groundviews. everyone knows that no credibility can be placed on so called lankatruth which is closely associated with once terrorist jvp and some ppl arrested and released on bail (not to mention sarath fonseka). both websites actively participated in anti sri lanka slander mongering on january 27th.

now that truth is coming out, groundviews is trying to reverse its own words, we will see how far they will go. will they go so far as to delete own words? i have and will document the actions of these despicable liars. anyone interested pl do the same.

we will also check whether any of the so called real 'journalists' are sloppy and moronic enough to repeat this lie. so far nobody has, as far as i can see.

today is easter (btw happy easter!) and i have various obligations, so will write a detailed post (with screen-shots etc.) if necessary (in some cases it is not wise to give publicity to lies immediately) tomorrow or later. i will certainly write some time.

anyway as i always say, remember to ask for sources and verify through independent channels before you believe anything, esp when stories originates from such criminally habitual liars like the two mentioned.

will the amnesty international or human rights watch condemn this outrageous violation of our rights? will the foreign funded ngos in sri lanka (almost all of them pro appeasement during effort to defeat ltte)?

after all they were all too ready to condemn decisions of sri lankan courts. but racists in ai, hrw, and their like, as well as assorted paid slaves of west, working for, or dependent on, ngos here will not condemn this.

do you think it is legitimate for some western governments to interfere is sri lanka on any ground?

good examples (among many) for such interference are uk minister david millband's attempts at interference here; his attempt to force sri lanka to declare a ceasefire during last stages of fight against terrorists, which would have saved tamil tiger ltte terrorist murderers, his continued patronage of racists in tamil diaspora such as global tamil forum.

is that acceptable to you? even though such a ceasefire would have been totally against interests of sri lankans, and would have allowed terrorists to keep on depriving sri lankans their rights, justice, freedom, and democracy, not to mention lives? even though plans of racists at global tamil forum, if unchecked, would end in sri lankan deaths ?

what do you think motivate ppl like miliband to interfere here? good intentions on our behalf? or purely short term selfish motives, such as pandering to racists in uk tamil voters in the case of david miliband ?

even if such interference is in good faith, made under the impression that they know what is good for us (lol), isn't it still a violation of our political rights as members of a democracy? should we not also object to such presumption on their part ?

for instance, it is very admirable to defend human rights, but it is despicable to support some foreign gov that try force us to obey what they consider right, esp so when we know what they advocate will lead to violation of human rights here.

answers of ppl like indi padashow samarajiva and sanjana hattotuwa (and lot of their suckerboys in kottu cocoon) are not hard to find out from their previous writings. they either remained silent or supported foreign interference (in fact some even called for it). they claimed such interference was made in good faith for our own good. they sometimes denigrate aggressive countering of such interference as mere conspiracy theory mongering, when in fact there is no theory involved but undeniable facts, which they ignore .

as i said in yesterday's post, their very frame of reference is limited and narrow. almost every one of them is also either directly or at second hand dependent on western funded ngos for their income.

anyway due to all those factors it is reasonable and justified to call them pro western slaves.

if anyone object to their being called pro westerns slaves by all mean answer the questions raised so that all can judge . :-)

stance about military defeat of ltte terrorists should and would define politics for a generation

indi padashow samarajiva before he got a job as part of a backfired akon publicity stunt and devoted his blog for that, wrote "i really hope that the war isn’t, like, our vietnam. as in, something that defines and defines politics forever. ..."

so typical of the clueless one to take another false analogy from history of usa. before the tamil tiger murderers got defeated he was repeatedly saying that sri lanka will not defeat the terrorists through military means and sri lanka government was only conquering territory, comparing fight against terrorists here to american efforts in iraq(which he thought was failing) and vietnam.

he stuck to it when it was pointed out by me (before he started censoring me) that many countries, ranging from indonesia to peru to turkey to algeria, have in fact successfully defeated terrorists and guerrillas (only difference from groups defeated in those countries; ltte was larger and more vile).

this happened several times in indi.ca and other blogs. search there.

likes of indi padashow (lot of them in kottu cocoon) seem to be stuck in a box with only american frame of references. (or more correctly liberal american frame of references); resulting in a narrow minded and uneducated worldview.

if anyone want to compare the military defeat of ltte to anything in american history, it should be to american civil war (1861-1865). even there the analogy fails. south aka confederate states of america, in that war was more than a mere armed criminal gang as ltte was.

should various stands about militarily defeating ltte terrorists define sri lankan politics for another generation?

yes.

why?
quite simply, bc politicians' stances reveal their character.

anyone who opposed military defeat of ltte bc they thought it cannot be done, displayed a lack of judgment and proved themselves unpragmatic dreamers. should voters consider that? yes.

anyone who preferred appeasement of terrorists to defeating them were worse. they chose an immoral course of action, they preferred to sacrifice rights, justice, freedom, democracy, and even lives, of sri lankans for a unsustainable 'peace'. should voters consider that? you bet!

unrepentant ppl in above to two categories should not be (and imo would not be) allowed to hold real power in sri lanka.

however opposite is not true. ppl who believed and even contributed to defeating terrorists shouldn't and wouldn't necessarily get real power automatically. that depends on other matters. a misconception about this point is what led some clueless idiots (and some foreign reporters too lazy to think and find out truth) to propagate the myth that those who appreciate victory over terrorist (racists termed these 'sinhalese') will split their votes more or less equally between mahinda rajapaksa and sarath foneska. election results vindicated my refutation of this myth.

iow a politician's stand on military defeat of terrorists is a basic qualification of entry. if you did not support it and is still unrepentant you have no chance, but supporting it does not mean you will get the job. imo this will be true for a generation.

of course even politicians without that qualification will get elected (esp due to probational representation) but they will not get real power. ppl who openly repent their opposition to military defeat of ltte may get through to real power, though their earlier stand will always be a rightful part of their opponents' arsenal.

to give a concrete example. present ranil wickremasinghe led unp leadership will not get real power. second or third tier of unp (say sajith premadasa) do have a chance once they can get rid of present leadership and publicly and officially renounce unp's peacenik stance.

to conclude, if you want a successful career in sri lankan politics in the next 20-30 years make sure to check you were in the right side about defeating terrorists.

too bad (or i should say too good) that former political appointee rohan samarajiva's patrons are in the wrong side and are unrepentant. no wonder his son, who is still living off his parents, don't want this issue to define politics.

akon, promoters, protesters = cheap publicity stunt

the obscure probably untalented so called musician akon is coming to sri lanka.

even though 99.99%+ sri lankans don't know and care about him there is supposedly some 'vast movement' (consisting of a fell-from-the-sky facebook group of few ppl) objecting and protesting against him, bc akon has supposedly insulted buddhism.

that is the spin. most of it coming from same media group that is promoting akon here.

stones were in fact thrown at offices of media group promoting the moron, by ppl who definitely did not look like they were practicing buddhists but looked more like few jobless idiots hired to throw stones.

seriously look at any pics of the incident and decide whether ppl throwing stones look like 'fundamentalist buddhists' or some drug addicts picked off the street to throw stones for few bucks?

unlike in past protests conducted in the name of buddhism, no monks were to be seen actively protesting. one group of monks had a media conference.

iow , imo all this looks like a cheap publicity stunt.

so cheap that ppl who are promoting this spin online are bloggers and websites who are known to repeat any lie as long as they get to create some non existing controversy and perhaps some rupees.

anyone want to bet that jobless who made few bucks here were not all throwing stones? lol

which 'news' website was trying unsuccessfully to make a big story about the ' vast protest movement ' aka above mentioned facebook group? hmmm.

there is an online thuggery blog devoted to attacking me in all possible ways, including by posting fake naked pics (see details here). i have ample reason to believe that this is done on behalf indi padashow samarajiva and family, bc i exposed them with facts and evidence, and who have promoted and defended that blog in variety of ways. they also want to intimidate anyone else from exposing them in a similar fashion.

that blogger and one of his fans, poojitha jayasinghe (timeseye), are now calling me an 'online thug' there. (lol these ppl are so unoriginal).

why?
bc i will not sit quietly by while i am being attacked. and bc i asked questions from ppl who admired that blog and its tactics.

i always like openness and sunshine. that is why i will clarify the issues here.
